Guest guest
thanks for reply Sheila. i am in the UK! and the doc said today all was normal. he said the range was 0.4-4 for TSH Anyway thanks to this site and the male low testosterone site i realise there is plenty wrong with me. 15 yrs down the pan. Boy am i angry because i have been saying for yrs there is something wrong with my hormones and i dont have depression !!! regards > > TSH is not normal - had you been tested in the UK, you would have been diagnosed as hypothyroid because their reference range for TSH is 0.3 to 3.0. Had you been tested in Germany, again, you would have been diagnosed hypothyroid, because their reference range for TSH is 0.3. to 2.5. Your Free T4 is also on the low side - ferritin is fine. Has your GP told you to go back for further blood tests - if not, you should ask for this to be done in about 3 months time to see whether your TSH is rising. Also, you should get checked to see if you have antibodies to your thyroid. > > luv - Sheila > > > > > hi i have my results today. they are all normal, but i would be > interested to see what you think. > > TSH = 3.2 > T4 12 > Ferettin = 137 > > sugar = 4.4 > > Testosterone = 10.91 > LH = 3.6 > FSH = 9.5 > > Thanks > > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG. > Version: 7.5.524 / Virus Database: 269.23.2/1388 - Release Date: 20/04/2008 15:01 >
Guest guest
Hi, It's better to have the ranges, but that TSH is on the high side. Subject: blood results hi i have my results today. they are all normal, but i would be interested to see what you think. TSH = 3.2 T4 12 Ferettin = 137 sugar = 4.4 Testosterone = 10.91 LH = 3.6 FSH = 9.5 Thanks ------------------------------------ Messages are not a substitute for professional medical advice. Guest guest
Hi, Yes! And the T4 is only one point of the usual bottom of range of 10 Subject: Re: blood results My thoughts are after doing some reading on here that the TSH result should be nearer 2 to be healthy. So this means my pituatary is producing too much hormone because not enough thyroxine hormone is in my system. does this make sense? > hi i have my results today. they are all normal, but i would be > interested to see what you think. > > TSH = 3.2 ------------------------------------ Messages are not a substitute for professional medical advice. Guest guest
Hi Gemma, T4 is bottom of the range, usually 9-25. My results very similar, lab wouldn't do free t3 but when I had a urine test done it showed t4 at bottom of range and t3 was way too low showing poor output of t4 and poor conversion to t3. My GP has agreed to treat me based on my symptoms and the tests, if you haven't been diagnosed, it'd be reasonable to push for a trial of thyroxine at least and maybe try to get the Free t3 done. Hope this helps, Ruth x > > Hi, > I finally managed to get some figures back from blood tests taken two > weeks ago, still waiting for some more hormone stuff to come back this > afternoon though. > I was told by the receptionist at my GP surgery when I asked for the > levels, " there's not much point love, they are just numbers to us " . > She did however give me the numbers and I reminded her that some folk > do have an understanding of what the numbers mean, I'm also an > occupational therapist as well as a patient. > So my T4 came back as 10 and TSH 1.57 I take it these are in the > middle of the ranges? Guest guest
PS forget to say RE PCOS, hypothyroidism and PCOS can go hand in hand as well as one or the other. My friend has both and is on metformin coz she has insulin resistance which is common with PCOS. Symptoms are quite similar I think, might be worth looking up insulin resistance and getting a glucose tolerance test too if you haven't already, results will show up slightly abnormal in insulin resistance and you'd get told you're 'pre-diabatic' probably. Something to think about anyway X
Guest guest
Hi Gemma, TSH does look ok, but a T4 of 10 is below the usual range of 11-20 ( can you get the range next time?) Are you taking any thyroid meds- if not then you ought to be! ----- Subject: blood results Hi, So my T4 came back as 10 and TSH 1.57 I take it these are in the middle of the ranges? Guest guest
Hiya, I'm not taking any medication at present and I expect that since the receptionist quoted " within the normal range " they are not going to be chasing me to discuss treatment. I will ask for a full breakdown of ranges when I call next week. The other part of the blood test is still not back (blood taken 2 weeks ago today) which is also making me wonder. No harm in making another appointment to discuss things with my GP, he was very good when I raised my concerns. Thanks > > Hi Gemma, > > TSH does look ok, but a T4 of 10 is below the usual range of 11-20 > ( can you get the range next time?) Guest guest
Hi Gemma, maybe you could ask receptionist to print off results for you for you to collect, that's what I do. They don't have probs with it and they'd rather I do that than ask them on phone especially when I've had a few tests done at the same time, they have them on screen when I ask if they're back, then they just click print and voila! :-) If they ask why you want them, say you're seeing a private doctor or you just want them for you own records. x > > > > Hi Gemma, > > > > TSH does look ok, but a T4 of 10 is below the usual range > of 11-20 > > ( can you get the range next time?) Guest guest
Gemma - please ask your GP for the results of all your last blood tests and see if you can get your Ferritin (stored iron) level tested. If this is low, it can CAUSE hypothyroidism if left untreated. Ask also to have a test to see if you have antibodies to your thyroid. If you have, these see your thyroid tissue is the enemy and set about its destruction, thereby, you are unable to put out the right amount of thyroid hormone your body requires. Take in a written list of ALL your symptoms and signs. You can check these against the list of symptoms and signs in our website, click on Hypothyroidism, and then click on 'Symptoms and Signs'. Take this list in to show your GP. Also, take your basal temperature before you get out of bed and before you drink anything. Normal is 98.,4 degrees F. If yours is 97.l8 or less (and it could be much less). Make a note of these too. Take this for at least 4 to 5 days. Put these on your symptoms list too. Guest guest
Hi Bee Went to the doctor today for the results of my blood work. Here's what it says: enlarged red blood cells Total cholesterol 7.25 Triglycerides 0.29 HDL 3.20 LDL 3.9 ratio 2.3 Iron still low at 26 even though I take liver pills daily Eosinophils quite high at 214 >>> Do you know what this is Bee? TSH 1.37 I'm wondering Bee if the high Eosinophils is giving me the night sweats? I read briefly about it online and it seemed to indicate that. thanks Hugs Maddy
Guest guest
Hi, I started Armour about 6 weeks ago and felt better just after a week and have gradually felt more and more better. I only take three quarters of a grain a day and that seems to suit me o.k. when I increased it to one grain (in divided doses) I felt a bit hyper. I don't think the chesty thing has anything to do with Armour I haven't had it, but I couldn't tolerate nutri-adrenal at all even when I took only half a tablet a day it gave me terrible head-aches. Hope you get on o.k. Best wishes Ann > I started Armour 3 days ago a quarter grain when I awake at 6am and a quarter at 1pm .I am okay but I do feel a bit chesty !!! ia this normal do you think?? It is like I am aware of my chest moving up and down ( AM I CRAZY) anyway I suppose it is only 3 days and I have been off my 137...5 Eltoxin for two weeks before that.I would be most grateful if anyone could tell me how > they felt first few days on Armour. I am taking One Nutri Adrenal Extra first thing as when I upped it to a secone one (before 1pm) I could not sleep so will take it slower with them. > > Would welcome any advise folks > > Thanks a million > > Margaret > > > > > ________________________________ > From: Sheila <sheila@...> > thyroid treatment > Sent: Friday, January 30, 2009 4:22:11 PM > Subject: RE: Blood results > > > All serum tests have a reference range Margaret, so drop in a note (don't ask) and say you will be calling in on such and such a date to pick up your blood test results that you requested and had done on such and such a day and would they please make sure that the reference range for each of the tests is there too. . > > > > > > > Your email settings: Individual Email|Traditional > Change settings via the Web ( ID required) > Change settings via email: Switch delivery to Daily Digest | Switch to Fully Featured > Visit Your Group | Terms of Use | Unsubscribe >
Guest guest
Wo Ho! Hang in there Jean. Your thyroid function tests are NOT normal. Your T3 (assuming this is Free T3) is right at the bottom of the reference range and your Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) is too high. Your TSH should be about 1.0 or less for you to feel good. A note to EVERYBODY - do NOT leave your doctor's surgery after asking for the results of any tests you have had done WITHOUT them. Do NOT accept any results WITHOUT the reference ranges. These are YOURS, and no GP, nurse or endocrinologist is allowed to withhold them from you. If they will not let you have them, then quietly tell them you will ask your local Primary Care Trust to get them for you. That should make them hand them over to you. Telephone your doctor and tell her that you will be calling in to get the reference range for each of these tests and would she please make sure they are held in reception ready for you to pick them up. How can anybody tell whether the blood results are 'normal' or not if the reference ranges have not been given. I cannot help with your B12 (no ref. range to compare the figure with), but your Ferritin is fine and dandy. Again, can't help with your Serum Folate without the reference range. Your T4 (assuming this is Free T4) is quite high but it would be if you are not converting this mainly inactive hormone to the active hormone T3. Vitamin D is a completely different test, and you need to ask your GP to do this. Luv - Sheila Can someone shed some light for me please as to whether they are high or low or ok? Results as follows:- Vit B12 - 245 Ferritin - 90 T3 - 2.5 T4 - 16.9 TSH - 3.3 (was 3.5 in sept and 4.6 in dec) Serum Follate - 6.9 Jean

In the U.S. doctors are allowed to charge you a small fee for the costs of making copies. However, I have never encountered a doctor that did that, because the labs all provide an extra copy of their print out, just for patients. Plus, all the labs I have used print a complete history of previous labs with every report. Chuck
Guest guest
Hi Jus - there appears to be a problem with 's responses, they are not appearing. For anybody taking all the thyroid hormones that are in Armour, there is no need for any thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and so yes, this is expected to be suppressed. That is fine. Also, your FT4 and FT£ would be expected to be high in the range and that is where they are. However, can you let us know whether you took any Armour on the morning you had your thyroid function test? It is best not to take any Armour for at least 24 hours before the blood is drawn because you can get a false reading as the T3 peaks in the blood after a couple of hours or so. Your ferritin level is absolutely fine. How are you actually feeling? Luv - Sheila Hi all, I would be really grateful if you could interpret my bloods for me. I had a total thyroidectomy many years ago and I'm now taking Armour, 2 grains, twice a day. My latest results are : TSH <0.01 FT4 15.2 (12-22) FT3 6.0 (3.0 - 6.2) Ferritin 87 Many thanks, Jus No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
I am seeing 'blank' messages from too - but this has been happening to others at times occasionally so I do believe it is something to do with . Luv - Sheila replies are coming back from you completely blank - just the message you are replying to. Does anyone else only see blanks or is it just my inbox? I have left what I receive underneath (unsnipped) for this purpose. Lilian
Guest guest
I think the one's coming back from are responses to those messages in HRML - but when she responds to those in Plain Text, they do show up OK.
