Guest guest
Hi Group, China has gotten a bad reputation for the many goods and foods they produce being contaminated by toxins, such as the recent toxin " called melamine " being added to baby formulas. They are also known for adding melamine, which is a toxic protein, to many other products, including pet foods. Many products from China also contain high levels of lead. In order to know which products are made in China, you can identify them by the Bar Code, since the first 2 or 3 digits of the bar code is the country where the product was made. All MADE IN CHINA product barcodes are 690 through 695. However many Chinese businessmen know consumers do not prefer products " made in China, " so they don't show which country their products come from. Here's all bar codes and the country of origin: 00-13 USA & CANADA 30-37 FRANCE 40-44 GERMANY 49 JAPAN 50 UK 57 Denmark 64 Finland 76 Switzerland and Lienchtenstein 471 Taiwan 480 Philippines 628 Saudi-Arabia 629 United Arab Emirates 690-695 China 740-745 Central America Bee

Guest guest
Thanks so much for this useful piece of information! Just the other day when I was shopping, I was trying to figure out if some food I was gonna buy was from China or not. It did not have the country listed at all (while most of the products at this store do have the country listed). So I ended up not buying it. Now I know that I can look at the bar code. > > Hi Group, > China has gotten a bad reputation for the many goods and foods they > produce being contaminated by toxins, such as the recent > toxin " called melamine " being added to baby formulas. Guest guest
I don't know what SNOPES has to say but I do know this. If a juice concentrate comes from China and the water is added in the US...the water is at least 50% of the ingredients so it can legally say " Made in the USA " . There is no law that requires disclosure of country of origin on ingredients that make up less than 51% of the total product. So, while the bar code might tell you something on a single ingredient item, it's not worth much for things with multiple ingredients.
