Guest guest
Hi Bee! Happy Belated Birthday! I have a question about vitiligo. For those of you who don't know, it is depigmentation of the skin. My 3 year old has been on Bee's diet since August and in the past week has developed vitiligo on his forearms. I first noticed it on his right forearm and my sister (whose autistic son also has vitiligo all over his body) told me to look for it on the other arm since it almost always occurs bilaterally. Sure enough he has a lighter/smaller spot on the other arm. My sister tells me that vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder and it often appears in autistic people. (Remember that I was pretty certain that my son had some autistic traits.) It is also familial. We have a cousin who has quite large vitiligo spots. My questions: Why would my son be developing this condition at this point? He is three and has been following the program for 3 months, so shouldn't he be nearly healed by now? He doesn't have any other spots, so I can't imagine he is retracing. Do you think he will be able to overcome this? It's pretty upsetting to see such large white spots on his skin. Guest guest
In the past, we've had people with vitiligo in the group. American Autoimmune-Related Diseases Association (AARDA.org) lists it as an autoimmune disorder.
