If you are interested, you can let me know - I have info on it at work, and I'm at home now. may be able to be treated over the internet (send urine & stool samples to labs etc.)
Guest guest
Hi , I think that often candida and alcohol go hand in hand. At least more often than one would think. For me...before I knew what was going on in my body, I drank everyday. So I think I was well on my way to becoming an alcoholic. I never was a big carb eater however I love wine and beer. My yeast got so out of control and I didn't know what was going on. It knew that they way to get fed was through alcohol because I would get up and go to the store for that. The cravings for alcohol we so intense at one point I got worried that was becoming an alcoholic. I rationalized my drinking to myself and my kids. I never got drunk (sloppy drunk) but I always had to attain a satisfied feeling before I could stop. And the problem is that you require more and more. I would think about alcohol all day and could not wait to get home and pop open a beer. Since I was always on a low carb diet, this was on eof the few sources of sugar I would get. I would rather sit home and drink to feel good than to do anything. I would not plan to go anywhere. So when I started this diet that was my biggest demon. I craved beer so badly it was painful. I also had gotten used to it as a part of my life. After starting the diet, I did not drink for one year. It took a few weeks for the cravings to settle down and then my body started craving cashews. That is another weakness of mine. I would stop and buy those to eat. I could once again justify them and I would eat one pound at a time. Well this fed my yeast too and I had to give it up because I was feeling bad again. It was also painful. Now I gorge on spaghetti squash casserole with some stevia. At least it does not make me feel bad and it is so good to eat. I think often the yeast makes you crave what it knows you will consume. It does not care what form the sugar is in. I think many alcohols may have yeast problems in their guts and this diet would help them. I look forward to adding back wine into my diet if possible one day. I know I am not an alcoholic now. Now that the yeast is more under control those cravings have been gone for a long time. It was not an emotional attachment as much as a physical need for me. I hope that one day when I drink wine again that I can stop at one or two like a normal person. I hope that my body won't kick into the cravings again. Guest guest
Hey, , First let me say that I feel your pain, and know you're not alone. I'm very new to this site (less than a week) but have fought addiction my whole life (I'm 33). Had 12 years clean and then last year at this time thought I could go back out with no problem. HAHAHAHA. Yeah, right. Strange to say that the candida was a blessing in a way. Whenever I drank (last drink was about a month ago), I would, of course, drink way too much. The next day, I'd wake up with fingers tingling, partial feeling loss in one hand, strange rashes, and I felt bruised all over...I mean it was so bad, I could barely wash my face in the morning because the skin and bones in my face felt battered. And the fatigue was worse than ever. For a few years I've been living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) as my diagnosis. I always knew I had problems with yeast, but it's only since I started looking at this site did I realize that candida may BE the CFS itself. Too many of my symptoms, anyway, match dieoff symptoms exactly. Anyway, chin up...as they say in the recovery community, we all have to hit bottom. You have to be honest with yourself. Let me repeat that: how willing are you to be honest with yourself? Thank God for the old crutches we used to use to get us through past pain...but we don't need them anymore. In closing, though it's not related to candida, I do HIGHLY recommend this guy's CDs: Codependence - the Dance of Wounded Souls by Burney. There are 3. They've helped me a lot in my recovery. Guest guest
> > Does anyone have a story about overcoming alcoholism with this diet? > Please share! > > Thanks > > **** I think a big component of alcoholism is sugar craving caused by out of control yeast. And alcohol is sugar, and lots of it with a very quick delivery. If you can get your fats up to where they need to be and cut the carbs, you will rewire your body and find that your cravings go away. Stick with the diet and supps. Make sure you are really eating all the fat, it helps you switch over and it heals you and stops the cravings. Good luck!!!!
