Yes, that's true. I asked at the local Farmer's Market and the farmers

who didn't have " certified organic " products told me pretty much the same

thing. However, they would have no trouble becoming " certified " if they

wanted to go through the hassles.

My grassfed farmer said the same thing. Way too much hassle to get

certified. They even check all the fenceposts to make sure they don't

have treated lumber, in case the cow chews on them or something. Plus,

it's very expensive, and he would have to raise prices. Personally, I

like eating CHEAP grassfed beef myself! :) (I just ordered another

half cow, which will cost about $3 per pound).

Doug,

Where did you get that grassfed beef? Inquiring minds want to know :)

Thanks,

Laurel Creek Farm... the best kept secret in Tennessee! When I get

1/2 cow, I get the bones and everything too. :) Best thing is,

within the past 2 months, he and 4 others have opened up a Market

within a mile from my house. Fresh seafood, organic produce, upscale

deli, grassfed beef, etc.... So now, I can go any time and pick up

pasture raised eggs or great produce! :D I made my first batch of

sauerkraut from organic cabbage last week...

1/2 cow seems to last us more than 6 months... for me, my wife, and

my Jack Terrier!
