No, you shouldn't juice the entire lemon, including the rind. Always freshly squeeze lemon juice only. Bee
Guest guest
Dear Mike, I tried this a few months ago, thinking it would be easier, which it was. I froze it in ice cube trays. However, the juice has a very bitter taste from the rind, which I couldn't abide, and so now I have about 20 lemon juice cubes in my freezer that I don't know what to do with! Plus hearing Bee say don't do it, I expect there may be concern about what's in the peels of even organic lemons. If you are squeezing the lemons by hand, find yourself a good " lemon reamer " with a sharp (not knife sharp!) point. Make sure it's sharp--I had one that wasn't and it makes a huge difference how quickly you can juice the lemons. I haven't sat down to juice a boatload of lemons again, but several members have said that they do freeze the juice in ice cube trays. --Rhe > > > > Bee, would it be a good idea juice the lemons in a juicer and use them > > in the electrolyte drink? Guest guest
HI, I've heard that lemons (and oranges) have have unseen mold on them, making them unwise for us candida sufferers. I just scored about 50+ lemons from a neighbor and juiced them all into ice cube trays for later- this will save me a lot of money (I can't believe how much money I have been spending on lemons since beginning this diet!). -Sara From: lillyscott758 <knrkelley@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Juicing lemons Date: Tuesday, December 23, 2008, 7:35 AM Dear Mike, I tried this a few months ago, thinking it would be easier, which it was. Guest guest
Hi Rhe, Yes, I was always an avid juicer, still have my juicer, and figured it would be a good idea not necessarily to make extra in advance or for it to be easier, but just because I would get more out of the lemons both physically and nutritionally, and just make enough for the day. I always thought that if the lemons were organic, the skin was very nutritious, just like the juice is when they are squeezed. I would always make " Mikes " electrolyte drink by juicing whole lemons and celery together and it was very uplifting, especially after a workout or whatnot. Bee's drink is great too. Bee, could you say why juicing the whole lemon is not advised? I didn't find the rind to be too bitter, but maybe because I always mixed it with something. I usually use a big spoon to extract the last of the juice after I squeeze them and it works just fine. ....Mike > > Dear Mike, > > I tried this a few months ago, thinking it would be easier, which it > was. Everything can have mold since mold spores are in the air and can grow anywhere. I don't believe healthy lemons will contain molds. > I just scored about 50+ lemons from a neighbor and juiced them all into ice cube trays for later- this will save me a lot of money (I can't believe how much money I have been spending on lemons since beginning this diet!). +++Good for you! Aldehydes are also one of the chemical toxins produced by candida. Aldehydes are a form of alcohol. Bee
