Guest guest
Juilette, Having Reactive Arthritis (Reiter's Syndrome), Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis and Osteoarthritis it is hard for me to pin point exactly what is causing my swollen ankles when I get them which is 3 or 4 days a week. I really think most of the time it is water retention that is causing it. If I don't take my water pill that morning because I am going somewhere like a doctor's appointment or the store, my fluids will build up and they seem to start in the ankles. When I get home I take my pill and sometimes 2 and in a couple of hours most if not all of the swelling goes away. If I have been on my feet a lot, which I try not to do at any time, the swelling can take a couple of days until it goes away. Next time you go to the doctor's ask about the possibility of you having water retention and ask for a sample of water pills and see if taking one when you feel swollen doesn't help. The only other thing I can think of is joint inflammation which will cause swelling. Good luck, and if it is happening all he time, I would go see the doctor about it. Guest guest
Hello, I have Reiter's and swollen ankles. Infact this inflamation started almost a month ago when I had a bad flare up. Anyway, my ankle pain/inflamation is present more often than not. I have tried several things and all give some relief. When they are really bad, I have to elevate them and ice them. I leave the ice on for as long as I can. I live next to a very cold river so I stick them in there from time to time. I learned that from my Native American friend who told me to stand my horse in the creek when he got lame. Ice reduces the swelling but does not help the stiffness, for this I use a hot water bottle. Of course I have to try to stay off of the them when they are really bad. However, if I can walk around it seems to help. Often I have pain in the mornings and by afternoon I feel pretty good. I am on a ton of meds too. Indocine, prednizone and enbrel. Indocine seems to be the most effective for getting me mobile. I hope this helps and that your ankles feel better soon. Guest guest
hi bee + group, thanks for your information about dark shadows under my eyes. i will persist and also i am trying to rest more. for many years i have found it painful to wear socks, my calves are usually puffy. i've looked through the site on this topic, and it would make sense that i've got adrenal and thyroid issues. aside from following the program closely, is there anything i should be focusing on? more sea salt, for example? i definitely crave it. i'm also hearing that it is normal to get a bit nauseous with the egg drink, yes? i tested sensitive to eggs a few months ago (i already knew this as the sight of them made me nauseous!) and i've avoided them for awhile, but i can see how it makes sense that it is a healing reaction, just as i have a powerful reaction to garlic. shall i simply reduce the eggs? thank you for answering similar questions again and again!! elisa

See this article on Water Retention: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/water3.php > > i'm also hearing that it is normal to get a bit nauseous with the egg drink, yes? i tested sensitive to eggs a few months ago (i already > knew this as the sight of them made me nauseous!) and i've > avoided them for awhile, but i can see how it makes sense that it > is a healing reaction, just as i have a powerful reaction to garlic. > shall i simply reduce the eggs? +++Yes, you need to start with 1 egg, and some people need to have only egg yolk, and not the whole egg, at the beginning. However, butter and coconut oil are also antifungal, so you need to start with low doses and only gradually increase them as well or they will also cause nausea.
