Hi , Could you put it in a slow cooker/crock pot?

-----Original Message-----

I'm making some pork broth/lard right now but I wish I could let it simmer

for longer than 12

hours. I have a gas stove so I wouldn't want to go to sleep with it on.

How does anyone simmer something for that long? Am I missing something?

Could I turn it

off and leave in in room temperature overnight and then put on the stove

again when I wake

up? Or should I cool the broth, put it in the fridge overnight and then

continue boiling it the

following day?

I just let mine sit on the stove on the lowet setting the whole

time. I leave it on over night and when I go out and it's fine.

+++Hi . You want to simmer pork and beef for 24-27 hours. If

you ensure there is enough water in it, I'm sure it is safe to leave

on the back burner of your gas stove.

+++Yes, it is safe to turn it off and leave it out until morning.

+++Like others wrote using a Slow Cooker or Crock Pot works best. I

made pork broth in my Crock Pot 2 days ago. When it was done I let

it cool and put the whole Crock Pot in the fridge. When there is

less I will transfer it to bowls. I usually consume it too fast to

freeze it.

Have a wonderful Christmas !

**** I also have a gas stove, and I let the broth cook , covered on low flame

all night and all

day. Have never had a problem. Been making broth for years this way.
