Guest guest
Hi, I know this seems off topic but if anybody (Bee?) has any advice about this I'd appreciate it. My Mother has developed macular degeneration, which means her eyesight is deteriorating and she may go blind. She's already finding it hard to see, especially in dimmer lighting. She is in her 60s. I am extremely upset about this as you can imagine. I am not sure what to suggest and whether it's too late, or whether there is anything that can be done to help prevent this get even worse? This appeared to come on very suddenly. They say it's age related. Possibly but she has also been suffering from glandular fever and is also taking mild sleeping pills (occassionally) to help fight her insomnia which is severe. I am wondering whether the virus has brought this on, or whether this maybe from long term meds...? She has tried melatonin etc and though they seem to help at first, they start having the opposite effect on her. She takes good supplements like B vitamins, magnesium and calcium, cod liver oil, etc. She is very slender and apparently has high blood pressure and was told that she was on her way to havinga stroke. She has lowered and even nearly knocked sugar out of her diet, but unfortunately she doesn't eat much fats because she was told to avoid them... I am trying to bring her around to the goodness of animal fats and I think she is slowly starting to consider consuming more of them. Anyway, any helpful comments welcome. Adam.
