Guest guest
I have gotten better when they took away the levothyroxine and now am on liothyronine, (Cytomel). Yesterday I was at a doctor and my temp was 98.0, my blood pressure was 126/60 and my heart rate was 80. Before, my blood pressure was reading 140-160/90, my temp was about 94-96 and my heart rate was about 60, to say nothing of the fact that my sugar could go as low as 34. I really think the 2400-3600 mgs of fish oil had lots to do with this. My doctor would like me to take 4000 mgs, but it was just too much for me. I also take magnesium, 750 to 1000 mgs day, hawthorn berries as per my cardio, which is from puritan's pride 3xday, nattokinase 2000 mgs 3xday to keep clots from forming. Don't worry, I still clot when I cut myself or something like that. I also take 20 mgs of policosanol for cholesterol, and have a high hdl, and slightly high ldl and my triglycerides are actually low, from starting with high. The thing I still haven't gotten a handle on yet is the darn edema in my legs. It comes and goes and I can't figure out why. I've been tested for kidney function, I don't have heart failure, my potassium and magnesium were just tested and were great. The only thing I can think of is deep vein inflamation. I'll have to talk about that to him when I go in soon. Maybe I need an antibiotic. In the meantime, maybe I'll start taking the garlic supplements I have, which have an antibiotic effect. The biopsy came out inconclusive again, and they even tested for lymphoma, which was such a scary idea to me I didn't even want to think about it, but it's fine too. If anyobdy has any natural ideas about the edema, I'd be interested in listening, and I promise not to ask you your reasoning for what you say. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! That concerned me because I knew an older man who had it. He was a fantastic guitarist and eventually got to the point that he could no longer play; he would come to the jam sessions with gloves on, no matter how warm the temperature was here in Florida. It was my understanding from him that it is a progressive disease, and he stated it takes about 25 years for it to go from your feet [where my symptoms are] to all of your body. He also indicated there is no effective treatment; I don't know if that is true or not. My personal symptoms were that my feet would feel extremely cold although they were warm to the touch. Further, my circulation was excellent. However, over the past few years my symptoms have decreased greatly. I still will sometimes have a " cold feet " feeling when the weather is cold, but not nearly so often or nearly so bad as I would in the past. I must admit I understand it exceedingly poorly. Guest guest
Roni, In talking with ZRT Labs a few years ago, I remember that they correlated " water retention " with an imbalance of estrogen to progesterone, specifically with the estrogen being too high. Personally, I have edema with low thyroid levels. Some people say that T3 needs to be at the top of the range in order to banish all symptoms. Mine has never been, and I certainly still suffer from symptoms. In the last 3 months my TSH has gone from .5 to 3.5 and I see a noticeable amount of edema in my face. But my sex hormones are not in balance either... time for me to find a new doctor. Marla > > I have gotten better when they took away the levothyroxine and now am on liothyronine, > (Cytomel). Guest guest
I am well past menopause, and if anything, my estrogen must be very low. Before I went on HRT it was almost non existant. I stopped in 2002, I believe, and so by now, I doubt if it's high at all. The next time I go see my gyno, I'm going to ask for it to be tested. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! Guest guest
Regardless of your age, the hormones always need to be in the same balance or there will be consequences. Your estrogen may be very low, but your progesterone is probably even lower. > > > > I have gotten better when they took away the levothyroxine and now am on liothyronine, > > (Cytomel).
