Guest guest
I dont believe I need carbs. I just wanted to make sure I was cutting down enough and eventually cut out so I can be healthier. I will get that book you suggested. I use to eat potatoes everynight, potato chips and so on. But Iam learning a new way of eating and its great for me. I did notice the more carbs the more tired I would get after eating. The recipes are now what Iam looking for to make for mtyself and family. Thanks

Guest guest
No more then 120 g carbs if eating 1500 calories. 30 % carbs. 25 gr is crazy. However watch those juices. You are an O and that means more whole foods VS juices. Carbs Sorry for being a numnut I just realized I must be eating too much carbs for this lifestyle. I would like to take in no more than 1500 calories a day. But I feel I must be taking in Carbs 200gr a day. And thats just adding what I eat. Maybe thats throwing me off for the foods I must eat. I read in another book that we should not take in no more than 25 grams a day. That seems to me impossible since just drinking pineapple juice instead of cola 30 grams. I know pineapple juice is on our list. But, Im I going crazy or what, please help. . by the way @www.foodforyourblood.com could e- mail me at az1home@... for the vitamins I would appreciate it. Guest guest
Thanks I might get this thing down pat yet. You know the reason I havent been getting this because being a junk food junkie all of my life. I didnt watch what I eat and to what extent I was shoveling food into my body. I probably was putting 1000 carbs more or less a day into my body. Its very interesting to learn all this at this time in my life. I refuse to say my age. But the thing is I can learn and I will do better with time.
Guest guest
That is so true. I won't mention my age either and I'm still learning also. If I cut my carbs and go with mostly proteins..meaning mostly meats...it triggers seizures. Anyone else have that? If I feel my aura coming on, which is a very specific pain in my stomach, I'll eat quickly eat carbs and it will usually stop the seizure! Maybe all in my head!!? Bev Re: [ ] A New Year's Resolution Thanks, Lamar, for sharing. My son is seizure free (no drugs) because of my own research on the internet. I drastically reduced his carbohydrates, did a very low carb, strict paleo diet, and seizures are gone. Thank you for your inspiration. Guest guest
Hi Judy...sorry so long to answer. I am on Trileptal 450/2X and believe I have complex partial ?? I have severe stomach pain for about 20 minutes followed by unconsciousness with stiffening of the body. But over the years I have been able to stop the unconsciousness by practically standing on my head. Not really, but I have to get my head completely down with a great deal of concentration and praying! I just started the med in August 2002. I was on Dilantin from age 5 thru teens when I started throwing them away. I only had about one seizure per month back then. I'm now 48. I discovered in my 30's that if I ate alot of fiber I only had about one per year. This past year I have been under a tremendous amount of stress and started having them more often but also was not eating very much of anything...I was very depressed. One stressor was my daughter was dx bipolar (still not sure tho) and needed to go on meds, so I surely couldn't tell her to take them when I refused, so I started. I was very anti-med before that. But They have REALLY helped her!!!!!, so I don't regret it. My neuro says the fiber thing is just a coincidence. Besides having no seizures (and not changing my diet) I've noticed I don't have any episodes of explosive anger, which I've had my entire life. So that's a big plus! My seizures are nothing compared to others who've posted. I am so sorry for those of you and your loved ones who deal with this on a daily basis. God bless you all! I hope you all find an answer. Guest guest
Kathy It does sound like you may be having low blood sugars. I would consult your Dr. I do know that taking Prednisone can cause high blood sugars but I am not sure on low Blood sugars. I myself have to take Insulin because of the Prednisone. And I due get lows at times and I get shaky, confused, sluggish, and if I eat 15 grams of carbs it takes care of it. So please consult your Dr about it. Connie AIH 2005 [ ] Carbs > Hi everyone. Guest guest
My mother gained alot of weight; post transplant from the prednisone. Now, 10 yrs. later she is only on Cyclosporin & still has most of the weight. I also know that I took care of elderly people with end stage liver disease and they were on restricted to low protein diets; as well as fluid restrictions. That would leave them to eating carbs. I have lost so much weight in the past 3 yrs.; that gaining back wouldn't be a real bad thing. I still have 4 large pastic boxes of various sizes of clothes that I've saved. This morning I go to my Gastro. I am so nervous about how it's going to go; wondering if he's going to send me to be evaluated by the transplant team. Wish me luck. flatcat9@... wrote: Yes, I feel much better after I eat carbs. My family thinks I'm fooling myself. My daughter must avoid carbs because she has an ovarian problem; my husband lost a great deal of weight and kept it off when he began minimizing carbs. I, on the other hand, gained 45 pounds in a month when I began Prednisone, and I've neither lost or gained since. Fortunately, I was underweight when I began gaining, but I'm distinctly overweight, nonetheless. I suspect eating carbs is linked to my not losing weight, and I, too, fear it might contribute to diabetes later. (So far, tests for blood sugar show I'm in great shape, not currently at any risk of diabetes.) H. Guest guest
Honestly I wouldn't worry a lot about counting carbs. I would just cut out white carbs (flour, sugar, rice, potatoes) and the rest will fall into place. I made a mistake the first few months I was banded. I cut out virtually all fat and my skin and nails were sooooo dry. I started using full fat products again such as mayo w/tuna and the problem was fixed. The thing about low fat foods is that if you look at the labels you will see that fat is replaced with sugar. So either way you are still getting the calories. I would avoid foods that are just plain not good for you. 252/164/150 Banded 12/06 On 8/15/07, Kristi <puffpuff60@...> wrote: I undersatand that I need to shoot for 60 grams of protein each day, but what about carbs? Guest guest
> > Hi Bee and all, > > There is one thing about this diet that has puzzled me for some time, and I'd like to ask about it. Namely, how do people get the amount of carbs that you recommend if we're allowed only low-carb veggies? For, let's say, 25 g of carbs, it would take a pretty huge amount of them. I know I couldn't possibly eat so many. +++Hi Rick. Please read my reply to your earlier message about how many grams of fat and protein you are eating, since you are not calculating ratios correctly. I am 5'6 " and my ratios are: 68 grams protein 169-237 grams fat 54 grams carbs See this article which has an automatic calculator and gives you complete instructions on how to figure out the amount or quantities of foods you need to eat to match your ratios: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/foods8.php In any case, it is not as important to meet your carb ratios since all carbs feed candida, bacteria, and cancer and they are not necessary for human health. All the best, Bee
Guest guest
If you read Bruce Fife's Eat Fat, Look Thin, you will know which carbs to cut out.. at least for a time, until you reach your goal weight, then you may slowly begin to incorporate more carbs. Guest guest
I am trying the lower carb diet that is recommended in the Carbohydrate addict book. I need to find a better book than this one, but it is a start. My craving at night was down quite a bit yesterday and I was able to stay away from the munchies last night. I did eat some nuts and I think that was just out of habit of eating something in the evening. Hopefully in a week or two I will do better. For me it is really hard to try to avoid carbs, as that is all we snack on. On the addict diet you are allowed one meal with more carbs, but picking that meal is what is so hard for me. I hope that it time I can mix up the meals a little and have my carb meal at different times in the day. Thanks, Susie
Guest guest
I don't know that there is a right or wrong amount, but over on spark people, according to my stats, they have me plugged in at 163-236 total for the day Carbs Can anyone tell me what the correct amouont of carbs should you have for each meal or the total of the day.
