This is the same issue as taking Optimox or Lugol's solution. If you get more than about 3 mg in one slug, there is a remote potential for an allergic reaction. The usual recommended dose is lower. The objective is to have enough in your system to prevent further absorption when exposed to the radioactive version. Thus, the later you take it, the more you should probably take. Guest guest
So in addition to the 60-70mcg of T3 that I take, what would be the amount of KI that would be worthwhile to take, and for how long? <>Roni Immortality exists! No amount will help unless you have at least a partially functioning thyroid. Again, anything up to around 3 mg will probably not cause harm. Whether it will actually help depends on a number of things, particularly how late you take it before exposure. Chuck
Guest guest
I'm not sure I understand. Is it better to take it long before exposure, or closer to exposure? <>Roni Immortality exists! Is it better to take it long before exposure, or closer to exposure? You want to be saturated when the exposure starts. That takes a couple of hours. How much warning do you think they will give you? In Japan, they were given the iodine days after the release started. Chuck
