Guest guest
hi marie; wish i had been able to respond to you earlier but it has been a busy weekend !! i am hypertensive and hypothyroid (go figure) my resting bp is around 150 - 180/ 75 - 90 and i have a resting pulse of around 100 . i have been looking at ways to reduce it without medication and had a good chat with my pharmacict the other day. she recommends meditation and i am going to give it a try, i just bought a meditation cd from ebay. i am not a new age sort of girl but i do think it is worth a shot ... all together now oooommmmm ! regards jane > > Hi Marie, > > Personally I only reply to things I have personal experience of and I am sure others are the same, and sometimes even then if I am busy I assume that others will respond & do not not & you do not want a dozen people saying the same thing. Also I get my emails by digest & so cannot see if someone else has already responded. I am sure if you put BUMP in the subject line with the same detail as well, then you will get replies as we will realise that no-one has answered. > > Val > > So once again thank you and every one who did reply. The lonely > > one Marie >
Guest guest
: Have someone check your blood pressures lying, sitting and standing to see if your pressures drop. That is a symptom of dysautonomia. Drink lots of fluids and if you are allowed, eat salty things to bring your pressure up. Unfortunately, bedrest can sometimes worsen this as you become deconditioned. I know you are up and about some now what with all of your appointments. Just keep working on this issue. You can research dysautonomia on DINET.org. Some FMS patients develop autonomic nervous system disorders. I think we have discussed this a bit before. S. BLOOD PRESSURE I forgot to mention when I was on earlier that when I went to my PCP this a.m. my blood pressure was lower than usual. I usually run about 100/70 or 110/70 somewhere in that range. Today it was 90/60 and the doctor didn't say anything. I know that our blood pressure can run low, but should I have said something to my doctor or is this pressure ok? Just thought of it after reading the newsletter. Thanks Dom, great newsletter and am definitely interested in Dr. Dantini, I think that was his name. Guest guest
Ok , I'll check the blood pressure on how you're suggesting it. I've read a bit on the dysautonomia...some of this mimics my other problems with my digestive issues, having MVP, muscular pain. My illnesses are all so confusing on what symptoms belong to what illnesses, as I've mentioned earlier. I'm gonna have to write them all out and then fill in the symptoms next to the illness, as I have so many and forget about our memory. I'll also check on the meds that I'm taking to see if this can have an affect. Thanks, as usual for your help. Guest guest
Your low number (60) is pretty darn low! I can't believe your doctor didn't saying anything! I'm a firm believer that "No question is a stupid question!" I'm the type of person that's not worried about speaking up though. I would say,If you have "ANY" concern, please ask about it. That's what they're there for and it will relieve you from thinking about it later and reduce your stress. Which you know we all need! haha! But 60 is pretty low,90 is low as well, but not as concerning as the 60. I would call the doctors office and ask them about it,I really would! I would just tell them that you are a bit concerned about it and wanted to double check with them about it to ease your mind. If they get offended by you questioning,so be it,it's your life! Guest guest
I have actually had a problem with my blood pressure ever since I was a teen,I'm 40 now. It was always normal sitting up. But I told a ER doctor that I'm always light headed when I stand up or get up from kneeling,etc...I'd see white or black specks flying around in front of my eyes until I would finally get my full balance back. And he was smart enough to check my blood pressure laying, sitting, standing. One right after the other. And to my surprise, because my blood pressure was always normal (sitting) it dropped quite a bit between laying, sitting, standing. I could hardly believe it! I was very young, maybe 16yrs old? I never took meds for it but it seems to quit happening when I started taking anti-depressants? Take care all! Many pain meds, antidepressants and ganglionic blockers all can lower your BP. I would strongly suspect this considering your med regimen. S. Guest guest
I'm home now and will be checking out the meds. I've been going to the doctor's everyday this week and am in alot of pain and just exhausted. Just a footnote however, when the doctor came into the room I mentioned my BP and she said not to worry about it, that it wasn't fine and not too low. I will be checking my meds however. Guest guest
Actually, The bottom number of 60 is normal. Normal B/P is 100-150 over 60-90.So, 90/60 is a little low (mine often runs like that too and the doctors never seem to say much). I have noticed a lot of people with Fibro have lower than normal B/P's. It's seems like with Fibro our bodies can't maintain a normal B/P. . Guest guest
I've haven't finished checking whether or not all the meds I'm on has an affect on my BP. But yes you're right about the doctor's just shrugging. Today my BP at another doctor's was 90/50, slightly lower from yesterday. I asked the doctor today about FMS and low blood pressure and again the doctor just shrugged which tells me the doctor doesn't know. I'm checking further on my meds to see if that may be affecting my BP, if not, than I'll have to deal wth my PCP, because I naturally suffer from vertigo and light headedness and don't need help in that area with now low BP. Guest guest
The lowest my blood pressure ever went was 94/60, and the nurse read it off like it was just fine. I asked if that wasn't a little low, and she said it was, but they don't start worrying about it under the bottom number is 50 or under. But you still might want to ask, especially if you are feeling dizzy or light-headed. Pam Re: BLOOD PRESSURE Your low number (60) is pretty darn low! And it is not uncommon for FMS patients to develop autonomic nervous system issues that typically present as orthostatic hypotension. S. Guest guest
Your very welcome! I hope some agree that 50 is low! 60 is low as well, but 50 is a bit much. I do agree with the others about checking meds. There has got to be a reason for the low readings, a normal blood pressure reading, for age 18 years and older is 120/80 (Systolic and Diastolic) Pre-hypertension,for example,120-139/80-89 mmHg. But the "Normal" low blood pressure is considered 115/75. And my concern is that yours continues to drop. There are MANY reasons for low blood pressure (Hypo-tension),that's why your doctor should be taking tests! I'm not trying to scare you,but I want you to be aware. Some causes of low blood pressure are, Nervous System Damage,Allergic Reactions, Nutritional Deficiencies,Dehydration,Blood Loss,Severe Infection (Septicemia) that enters the blood stream,etc.....That is just to name a very few reasons. I would be very stern with your doctor and let he/she know that it is a concern and you would like a explanation for it. Especially since the low has become 50. Take Care Friend! Guest guest
Well, Pam, I called my PCP today and spoke with his nurse. She said not to be worried that this BP is quite normal and if it goes down to say 80/40 than be worried and to keep it monitored. Yes she said some meds can trigger this but also stated that she lives with this BP daily and she's just fine. You know what I mean?! But that is what I would do. Take care all! Pam Fibromyalgia Awareness Items! Check Out My Store At= http://www.zazzle. com/pammys* For MANY Unique Items! Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Cyn, does your husband salt load? if so, what salt does he use, and how much/day? > > My husband takes iodine and tends toward higher blood pressure. In the past week his BP has gone up alot. Could this be realted to the iodine? I am just trying to rule out causes for him. Could it be any of the recommended supplements? > Cyn >

Guest guest
Some say that you should take gray sea salt to remedy high blood pressure. The potassium in the gray sea salt helps to balance the water in your system in order to reduce the blood pressure. Some take diuretics for high blood pressure. I bought him some Celtic sea salt but he didn't like it cuz it won't shake.
