Guest guest
Hi , the other supplement you might be thinking of is TMG (Trimethylglycine), which was recommended to me when I asked about LDN for Hashimotos on the Natural Thyroid Hormones list. I think someone named suggested it. I haven't tried it, because I am going to try LDN and I like to try one new thing at a time! My LDN should be here any day and I will report on how I feel and what my antibody numbers are over at the LDN group. Guest guest
Thanks Steph - I am taking the cofactors (only 1/per day), my ND suggested 300mg of B2 and 500mg of B3. Any comments on upping the B2 (riboflavin), or maybe just taking 2 cofactors/day (with 50 mg of lugol's)? I am also taking selenium (400 mg) and magnesium oil - but this is hard to gage what I am actually getting. I am hoping I am covering all the bases but I am finding there is always something else to try. Thanks for the help! B > > Magnesium and selenium should help with the antibodies. Guest guest
Hi , *** this time he is sending me for a cortisol (blood in this case) test which I have to have first thing (before 9am). Oh right, thanks - But when you had the short synacthen test, was that not done around 9 am? That should have shown your blood cortisol levels, as they would have measured those first before injecting ACTH. But in any case it will be interesting to see if the levels are consistent. - What was the result of your ACTH test btw? Have you got a copy of the figures? ***It's true that my endo is a really nice guy but really the first time I saw him he knew very little about Armour.... it was just that he was open to it. He obviously cares about getting people well and will listen to ideas about testing and possible hinderences to well being. Those are the best doctors - the ones who will listen and be open to suggestions. Nobody expects doctors to know everything, but it would be refreshing to actually talk to a doctor and receive a considered response for a change rather than well rehearsed party lines. Guest guest
Those ranges are really high. They look like really old standards. Levels have been lowered by AACE. Which lab did these? Normal ranges are: TSH .3 - 3 Free T4 .8 -1.8 Free T3 2.3-4.2 Seeing the lower FT4 with the higher FT3 (using my ranges) my hunch is that you have a RT3 (reverse T3) issue. This can be due to several issues - poor diet, liver overload, cortisol imbalance (adrenal issues), stress, chronic illness like Epstein Barr - to name a few. He did not check your antibodies??? (TPO Ab and Tg Ab) If you have a nodule you may have hashimotos. I swear these doctors must be getting degrees off of Cracker Jack boxes. My doc told me that I could treat patients better than most docs. I think that is sad. I would not go on T4 (Levo) because that will not solve your problem if you have a RT3 issue. Are you on any thyroid meds now? Are you taking iodine and companion nutrients? Steph test results Hi everyone,I just got my test results back, I have two nodules, the biggest 3x3.5 cm,benign, the Endo thinks thryoid ok, but thinks i should take Levo for few monthsto see if they would shrink!I think the results show I may be hypo, please help me figure it out, this is anew lab, and i found the ranges are strange;TSH 0.909 Range: 0.465 - 4.68FT3 4.50 Range: 3.48 - 9.46FT4 14.7 Range: 10.0 - 28.2He refused to look at any pituitary issue. so if he won't listen to me, i won'tlisten to him. please I need any feedbackthanks and regards to all

Guest guest
Thanks, she's been on many supplements for about 7-8 months and she had magnesium, but when I saw it the other day, it was oxide and I told her I thought she needed a different form. She's been really sick for about a week and hasn't felt like starting additional supplements, but she got a bad report from the doctor today that her blood levels were down and he wants to do a bone biopsy. So I've given her some things I have for her to take and she said she's getting lost in all the supplements and why she's taking what she's taking, so I'm gonna help her sort everything out and make sure she's on the supplements for two weeks full force before starting the Iodoral. > > I would like to reiterate and reinforce for any newbies that the supplements to support detox are essential to take. I kind of blew it off at first because I need to save money but it is a synergistic thing where to get the benefit, they all have to work together. I think sometimes we focus on the iodine and people don't get results because they don't take the supporting supplements.... Please, if you decide to do this, take the supplements. It's essential for the iodine to work and if your're in, go all in.... > > Tressler > Healthy Transitions Life Coaching > 541-791-1464 > > Help raise funds for Legacy Land Conservancy by searching the internet or shoping online with GoodSearch (www.goodsearch.com). >
Guest guest
Judy, the NHS ONLY test to see whether you are suffering with 's disease (little or no cortisol output) or with Cushing's Syndrome (too high a level of cortisol). They do not test for low adrenal reserve, which must be treated with the results you got from Genova. These are extremely low. Have you contacted Dr Peatfield or thought of having a consultation with him. What medication or supplements are you taking right now? Luv - Sheila My result from adrenal stress profile 11/08/09 Sample 1 2.6 (12-22) Sample 2 1.5 (5-9) Sample 3 2.1 (3-7) Sample 4 0.5 (1-3) DHEA am 0.31 (0.20-0.70) pm 0.16 Low DHEA cortisol ratio 3.51 (high) Following this I was reffered to an NHS endo who ordered the following test: Result of Synacthen Test 20/11/09 Cortisol 0 326 30mins 806 60mins 934 an adequate response to 250ug Synatchen is a cortisol increase of greater the 2000nmol/1 to a peak value of at least 570 nmol/l Result consistent with adequate response to ACTH. The endo feels there is nothing wrong with my adrenals. Has anyone any thoughts on the synacthen test. Guest guest
Hi Judy You must be feeling dreadful! You have just enough cortisol to go to sleep all day. How do you survive? Do you feel really ragged as though you're running on adrenaline all the time? I would say you need to research everything you can on adrenal fatigue, and then decide for yourself if it exists or not. There was a post on here some time ago (may have been bob) which explained what the starting level of cortisol ought to be with a short synathacyn test. If you start off low, it doesn't matter how much it increases, it's still low. Am off to search for the post. If I find it I'll flag it up to you. x > > > > My result from adrenal stress profile 11/08/09 > > > > Sample 1 2.6 (12-22) > > Sample 2 1.5 (5-9) > > Sample 3 2.1 (3-7) > > Sample 4 0.5 (1-3) > > > > DHEA > > am 0.31 (0.20-0.70) > > pm 0.16 Low > > > > DHEA cortisol ratio 3.51 (high) > > > > Following this I was reffered to an NHS endo who ordered the following test: > > > > > > Result of Synacthen Test 20/11/09 > > > > Cortisol > > 0 326 > > 30mins 806 > > 60mins 934 > > > > an adequate response to 250ug Synatchen is a cortisol increase of greater the 2000nmol/1 to a peak value of at least 570 nmol/l > > Result consistent with adequate response to ACTH. > > > > The endo feels there is nothing wrong with my adrenals. Guest guest
Judy, I looked through all the posts in the forum over the past year and other people on this forum, who had this test had starting cortisol of, 631, 130, 332,317, 500 and 189. Yours was 326, which certainly isn't the highest start point. I then went to the website of the journal of Clinical Endocrinolgy and looked at a paper where they had done the synacthen test on healthy people. (http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/reprint/88/5/2045). Their starting cortisol levels were 619, 400, 683, 413, 259, 567 and 273 - they found that they didn't all double their initial cortisone level after the synacthen. Given that your start level was not at the bottom of the range, compared with others, and that the level almost rose to double, you can understand the endo thinking you had no problem. But, how do they know that 326 is a normal level for you? What if your normal level is 600 or so and it's currently low? How do they check that? Argueing it out with your endo, based on the figures I've just given will waste tons of your energy and time. If I was in your shoes, I'd still be doing as much research as I could about adrenal fatigue and treatment. x > > Hi Judy > > You must be feeling dreadful! How long have you been kept on that dose? Your Free T4 is high in the range. A suppressed TSH with a high free T4 reading could indicate a pituitary dysfunction or hyperthyroidism. What symptoms do you have? In either case, your GP should refer you to an endocrinologist to find out the cause of such results. Do you take any iodine? Guest guest
Rupa, it might help to know that 60mg of Erfa is equal to 35mcg levothyroxine and 9mcg of T3. Lilian I have a tub of 500 x 30mg ERFA thyroid which I bought on a whim a couple of months ago and they have begun to say "try me". But what dose of ERFA do I start on if I make the switch? Guest guest
Hi Rupa - leaving you on only 10mcgs T3 is ridiculous - you should have been allowed an increase to bring this up to at least 20mcgs Daily, split twice a day and after if you still suffered symptoms, a further increase of 10mcgs. If you are not converting the mainly inactive hormone T4 into T3, it would be sensible to stop the T4 and just try T3 (the active hormone) on its own. I would ask your endocrinologist if you could start a trial of this. Your blood results show that you are NOT on sufficient T3 - because for those who take sufficient T3, their TSH would be completely suppressed and yours is not. I would wait and see what y our endo. says when you ask for either an increase in your T3 or a complete swap-over to T3 alone and then depending on his response, make a decision based on that whether to go down the natural thyroid extract route. If you go to our FILES section from the Home Page of this Forum, look in the 'Armour' FOLDER and then scroll down until you see " How to use Thyroid Extract " . Luv - Sheila I'm feeling better since starting on T3 (about 10 weeks ago) but I'm sure there is a way to go and still room for improvement. My Endo is happy with my blood results tho which on 12 Jan were TSH 1.47 (0.35-1.47) T3 4.3 (2.6-5.7) T4 14.2 (9-19) I

Guest guest
Thanks to both, that's really helpful to know. When I feel the dips, my eyelids droop and I could quite easily go to bed, and then when I take T3 again I feel like a bit of a meerkat but only for a short time. The severe lows I felt previously have weaned off since taking T3. So, do 2 grains ERFA equal 75 t4 + 10 t3, approximately? Guest guest
You might find that the Erfa is stronger than the Armour - at least, I found it so, and have cut back from taking 3 grains down to 2 grains. I think you should be OK with the Erfa Glynis, I understand the ingredients are pretty much the same - or rather, pretty much the same as the OLD formulae Armour. I would give it a try, but take less to start with and if you feel you have symptoms returning, then increase the dose by half a grain. luv - Sheila Is it OK to take the same dose of Erfa as you did with Armour?
