To Whom It May Concern,

Please unsubscribe me. I have no idea why I am getting these e-mails.

Prompt attention to this matter will be appreciated.

Thank You,

Hi Kathy,

I am really sorry to have to tell you this but I recently sent out a

message to " the other list " ... saying that it was going to be deleted.

There wasn't enough response from the people here to make it a viable

option. As you can see, there were tons of emails today, and the other

day, with news from the ACR conference. (Don't worry. That happens only

once a year and it's a major event in the arthritis world.) Nearly all

of our regular members would have missed out on these groundbreaking

studies, had I posted them only to the list for news and research. I

couldn't let that happen. So, I decided that it's probably best to keep

the research news integrated right here, with the regular JRA

discussion. The way it was in the past.

Kathy, I really hope you don't leave us. You say that Josh has been an

inspiration for you and Tally. Maybe so, but you have contributed far

more than you realize to this group, with your deeply moving responses

and very thoughtful and well-thought-out postings. You have inspired and

encouraged so many parents by sharing Tally's story. Take a break for a

while if you feel like you need to but please don't leave permanently.

Not because of a difference in opinion or some rash words. Switch to the

daily digest version or go no-email for a while. At least consider this,

okay? I know how you feel. I've been in the same position. And I'm sorry

for any hurt feelings. I hope you can stick it out though :)

Love and Aloha,

Georgina

To leave the list:

1) send email - the address is below to unsubscribe

2) watch for the response

3) reply to the response

4) that is all

Hi ,

All you have to do is ask. If you want, I'll just go ahead and

unsubscribe you. Another option is to send an email to

mailto: -unsubscribe I used to include a link on

the bottom of every post directing list members to the JRA

List Page (where most people first find the group and subscribe) at

... but it seems easier for me to

just honor people's requests to be unsubscribed, as some find it

difficult to use the features there. From that page we can subscribe,

unsubscribe, edit our account, our profile, choose the means of message

delivery, read messages, search the message archives, access group files

and the chat feature, etc.

At the bottom of that same page there's a chart that shows the numbers

of messages per month. As our group has grown, so has the number of

messages being posted here. Those receiving the daily digest, which is

the perfect solution for some, get just one JRA List message per day ...

which includes all posts. The format isn't quite as 'readable' as

individual posts are. To help in some small way to remedy this I removed

the appended link that used to be at the bottom of every post. The

address for unsubscribing is still included in every message but only

visible when you have your email reader set to 'show all headers.' If

full headers are showing, all you do is click on the 'mail to' unsub

link and a message box pre-addressed to the automatic unsubscription

address will pop up. I'll snip most but here's a portion of the header

from the message you sent:

X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 4.72.3110.1

From: <parker77@...>

Delivered-mailing list

Precedence: bulk

List-Unsubscribe: mailto: -unsubscribe

Date: Thu, 04 Oct 2001 00:01:09 -0500

Maybe that's more than you needed or wanted to know :) Hopefully it

explains everything, not just for you but for others who may have had

the same question :)

Aloha,

Georgina

Please can you unsubscribe me?

A virus managed to sign me up to this list again and I no longer have the details about how to unsubscribe.

Thank you!

Re: Sorta OT

Hi Kate,

I also want to give you encouragement for quitting smoking and to let you know that you can tell us about your health issues here all you want. I know my friends and husband absolutely DO NOT UNDERSTAND anything about this disease, because I sure didn't before I had it. My sister had it 25 years ago, and I don't think I was at all supportive until now!

As far as quitting smoking: YOU CAN DO IT! I quit when I was 26, cold turkey, after smoking for 13 years (yes, such a fool I was at age 13!) I didn't have any problems, because I was in the beginnings of pregnancy and wanted the baby to be healthy almost 30 years ago. I am so glad I quit. However, the story I really want to share is about my older sister, not the one with Graves'. She smoked for over 40 years, and was having a terrible time giving up cigarettes, even with heart problems. Well, what cured her was that she had such a severe heart attack that she was declared "dead" until a sweet nurse kept working on her to get a pulse back again. She recovered, but had two stints put in around her heart, and has now just had 3 more stints put in. But what the doctor said was that if she had NOT smoked, this wouldn't have happened. She had a tough time giving it up, particularly since her husband still smokes, but she had hypnosis and the patch and did give it up. I think the scare was more important than anything, though. Good luck to you and I hope you find an alternative. Exercise and bubblebaths? Something special for yourself?

Arlene
