Guest guest
Congratulations on your weight loss. As long as you're having regular testing and feel good, it's pretty easy to drop or raise a tiny bit of the hormone to keep your levels optimal. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! I think I have finally found a good balance of food-vitamins-exercise. My question is I am taking a relatively high dose of Synthroid 175mcg ( I think this is high anyway), is it possible that I will require less Synthroid now since I have lost weight? I am just cautious of " over-treating " as i know that can have it's own negative health implications. I have a test scheduled for Friday just to monitor my levels. I have done alright just monitoring TSH so far. I'm a 30 year old male...not sure if that matters! Your help is always appreciated!

The ideal dose is directly proportional to weight. So, yes, expect a reduction when you lose a lot of weight. Female relatives of mine were on 200 mcg for many years. My son is on 162 mcg, and he weighs about 190 lbs. In contrast, I am on 137 mcg, and I weigh quite a bit more than he does. So, the requirement does vary.
