Guest guest
I have had AIH since 1999 and have been on prednisone, I have a new doctor at Piedmont Hospital Transplant Services in Atlanta, GA. Is anyone seeing any of the Doctors there. I am not going there for transplant but to see if I can come off prednisone. I am taking Entocort EC to replace the prednisone. Has anyone taken Entocort. Entocort will put me in Medicare-D gap in April. Does anyone know if there is any help with the cost $334./mo. I read all emails but seldom send any, this group has been great help with my questions for the past 9 years. ________________________________________ PeoplePC Online A better way to Internet http://www.peoplepc.com
Guest guest
Hi I don't write often, but have had AIH since 1998. I started out with predisone but switched to Entocort EC about 2-3 years ago. The reasoning, it's not as hard on the body as prednisone. It has the same risks (diabetes, HBP, etc) but it's easier on the system. My doctor asked if I'd like to try Entocort EC instead of prednisone. He said it's not typically used for AIH, but he thought it might work. I was really game for it. Entocort EC works. No doubt (for me) a good response to the meds. 9mg is the maximum (3 capsules/day), you work your way down to 1 capsule/day. Hope this helps.
