Guest guest
Yes -- it proved to be a small ulcer, causing anemia. No big deal, in my case. Don't worry; it could be something quite minor. Get it checked out and then you'll know how to proceed. Guest guest
There is another disease, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, that causes the same symptoms. You might want to be checked for that before having a lot of invasive tests. Pittsburgh, PA _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of flatcat9@... Guest guest
My gastro watches my internal bleeding very carefully, he gave me a bunch of Hemocult(?) cards, that tests blood in the stool..Whenever I think my stool is black I am supposed to have send them in for testing. In addition to that he watches my verices, with a yearly endoscopy and sometime colonoscopy. A Couple of years ago I had to have red blood platelets added to my blood, which was no big deal, but scared the dickens out of me. I have been doing well since then, I do take Aciphex for my acid stomach ( which I have probably from all the meds I am taking, which may have been the cause of the minor blood loss which caused me to be anemic also. Who Can tell and I even tend to forget what all they have done to me. I am doing better now than I did 3-4 years ago! Blood tests are good, but do not be afraid of Endoscopy and /or Colonoscopy. If your doctor is good , they are not a big deal. Hopefully you have good insurance, because the cost of these test, is what scares me to death.
