Guest guest
Hi Ellie! I can understand your anxiety if you haven't had one done before or if it was a long time ago. I was terribly nervous having my biopsy done in December last year. This because I had a bad experience many years ago when they didn't use the technology they do today. (I've had AIH for 32 years so I've been trough a couple.) I almost cried going down for my biopsy and then it turns out, it was over in a couple of minutes, I even had to ask if they really were done. They didn't get enough tissue the first time so I had to do the biopsy all over again after four weeks. This time, I thought, it cannot go so well as the last time, but it did, even smoother. The technique has developed so much during the last couple of years so biopsys are hardly worse than getting your blood work done. They use very fine needles and they are ultrasound guided. The preparation takes some time, they go over your tummy with the ultrasound to find the perfect spot, desinfect and give you anaesthetics. The biopsy is over in a couple of seconds and you are done. Ask your doctor about the procedure. I'm sure it will go just fine for you! Keep us posted! Hugs Nina!
