Guest guest
Dear Joanne, We, too, have had a lot of snow already this year. Luckily just a few days with ice. I think we are in for one heck of a snowy winter. For the first time, I had to turn back and was unable to cross the mountain due to the roads. Seems the next county had not stayed on top of the plowing and the road was too slippery to chance. You asked what we all did to stay busy--- for me, the kids are in from college, we bake alot, do crafts and distribute them within the community. As a volunteer EMT, I stay busy this time of year as a lot of people get pneumonia, the flu, and a host of other illnesses as well as travel accidents --sigh.... I wish people would slow down in this weather. We also still hike and walk about. There is an abundance of wildlife this year with the increased deer population, turkeys, bears, numerous birds, squirrels, etc. It was exciting yesterday when we spotted a young bald eagle flying out over the field. Investing in good boots is a key to enjoying the outside. Our grandson is almost 3 so it is always a trip when he comes to visit. As for Randy, he is still like a kid in the candy store at work. Loving every minute of it and again has designed an instrument which is proving to be significant in the radio astronomy community. The astronomers are mapping and discovering more pulsars each and every day. If you get a chance to watch the science channel or National Geographic on tv, they are often talking about discoveries made with the instruments he designs and builds. His health is great, he feels good, and Cleveland only wants to see us if something is wrong. Labs are out to every 3 months or so (or whenever I can slow Randy down enough to get him into the lab for a blood draw). Tomorrow will be 9 years since our surgery and we have been so blessed to have had a rather smooth ride since then. Our advice to all is: listen to what your doctors say and be compliant with your meds, get plenty of exercise and make sure you eat on schedule. Keeping your strength up is paramount with this disease. The benefits of doing the above far outweigh just rolling over in bed and going back to sleep. Take care!
