FATTY LIVER

I know none of us can donate our livers but this was an eye-opener to me.  Think

of how many of us have friends and family who are organ donors but who are

significantly overweight and may have fatty livers without knowing about it.

" The family was summoned to the Pittsburgh Medical Center in October when the

hospital got notice a liver had become available, but when they arrived, it

turned out the liver had too much fatty tissue to be transplanted. "

I got that diagnoses a while ago I was told it was because I was fat. I wonder

if the fatty liver will go away if I ever lose the weight. hehe.

My hepatologist gave a presentation showing fatty liver to be the #1 liver

disease. This was about 3-4 years ago.

Being # 1 liver disease you would think there is some medication one could take

to reduce the problem. I all I hear is from my Gastro/Hepotologist is to loose

weight and don't drink (I never did drink!!). Yeah I should loose weight ,

but........

Yes, so far NALFD' has limited remedies -- weight loss, avoiding alcohol,

minimizing Prednisone.

However, even thin people can have fatty liver.
