Guest guest Posted July 15, 1999 Report Share Posted July 15, 1999
Hi ,
You asked about the warmer climate possibly helping Josh out. I really don't know because when we lived in the Northeast, with some very cold winters, Josh was a very healthy little kid. He never had even so much as an earache. No illnesses throughout his early childhood, at all. I breast fed both of my children (Josh till 23 months) and sort of thought that helped their immune systems and protected them from all the little things a lot of kids get.
We moved to Hawaii in July, '93. In late Jan '95 my daughter got the chicken pox. Shortly afterwards, I got it. Hadn't had it as a child. And just when I was starting to feel better Josh got came down with all those tell-tale itchy bumps. That was the first time he was ever sick. He had it pretty bad. Then, about a month or so after recovering, he got JRA. You know how in the beginning we're always trying to figure out what it was that suddenly caused our child to get so sick? Well, in our case I really believed that the chicken pox were in some way responsible. Guess I'll never know for sure.
So, I'm not sure if the climate here is helpful or not. It's usually warm and sunny with cool breezes all year long, except for about 2 or 3 weeks a year when it's rainy and damp. During the rainy season, Josh usually gets a little more sore. Sometimes not, though. And sometimes when the weather is really terrific, he still gets sick. So it's hard to tell. The way I look at it is, if I had some medical condition like stills, I'd prefer to be sick in a tropical paradise than in a cold, wintry place. Then again, I'd rather be on a tropical island, even if I wasn't sick :-) & nbsp;
I hope 's legs aren't hurting so bad these days.
Take care,
Georgina
Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
