Guest guest
Depending on the head gear that your child is using, it is NOT experimental. The DOC Band, the STARband, and the Craniocap have all been cleared by the FDA. Cranial Technologies (DOC Band) did years of research to prove their product, and the manufacturers of the STARband and Craniocap have produced "equivalent" (meaning that they look/perform in a similar manner as the DOC Band) products based on that research. Once a device is FDA cleared, it should no longer be considered "experimental". If you are using a local helmet that is not FDA approved, the "experimental" denial may fly, unfortunately. Please check with your local provider to find out if they have acquired FDA clearance. Good luck with your battle! Most of the cases I researched in files section challenged denials because of cosmetic reasons. Does anyone have information to help me fight CIGNA for 'experimental' reasons??
