i typed this story once before and it was cut off. i am not taking any

chances this time. dr said that joint inflammation can sometimes be

unexplained. (?) says it is not necessarily jra. i can't figure it out.

just so grateful...makes me emotional. i love her so much and to see that

poor little girl push her bike down the street in the am, because it hurt to

ride it to school. but she knew by pm ride home on the bike, it wouldn't

hurt anymore. good luck to you all....kindest thoughts, LEAH

(please forgive my spelling)

Hi Leah,

It is sometimes very hard to know for sure what triggers joint pain and

inflammation. There are several different things that can mimic JRA

symptoms, the first one that comes to my mind is Lyme Disease from a

tick bite. It's great to know that your daughter is doing so much better

now, though. Let's hope it continues this way, with no more recurrences!

Thanks for your message,

Georgina

when my daughter was first diagnosed she was just over one and at that

time

she was treated with naprosyn. didn't touch it. so they started the

liquid

gold injections. we had to go in every tuesday for a blood draw and

urine

collection. then if all was well, the injection was on wednesday.

horrible

situation. she was so small, yet she knew when we pulled in the parking

lot,

what was about to happen to her. i stopped taking her after a few

months.

(polyarticular diagnosis) family services came to my door and told me i

would be charged with medical neglect if i didn't continue the

treatment.

so after a few more weeks and one more threat, we went back. she had

gone

into total remission. i am not implying that the sessation of the

treatment

was the remission trigger. i don't know. never will. then 5 years

later

her knee flared up. pauciarticular this time. she immediately had a

cortizone injectin, in 2 days the swelling was gone. that was 2 years

ago,

and it hasn't returned since. thank my lucky stars. hers too. a year

ago

she had a swollen collar bone. i took her to our new dr. dr did blood

work

said all was fine and juging by what she read, she doubted she ever had

jra.

however, she has had mouth sores. her eyes are fine. no tricky bowl

movements. never a rash. never a fever that was unexplained.
