sometimes there is increased pressure in the bladder which causes urine to

reflux upwards back into the ureters and back towards or into the kidney

(where it just drained from). sometimes the problem is that the ureters are

implanted on the bladder wall in an incorrect position and this causes the

urine to go back up into the kidney instead of draining completely into the

bladder.

The pressure problem can be such that it scars the kidney(s). This is what

the ultrasound will show, if there has been any scarring from pressure or

repeat UTI's.
