Guest guest
Hi , Though it makes sense that this should be possible I have never heard of it. Shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, etc .... but I've never heard of an elbow replacement. Has your doctor mentioned this possibility? I think usually this joint is treated with physical therapy and/or cortisone injections. They use that a lot, at least for tennis elbow. Maybe someone here will know more about this. , how's it going with the steroid taper? How much are you on, now? And how are your kidneys? Still alright, I hope. Have you seen that new rheumatologist? If so, what do you think of her? Aloha, Georgina Hendricks wrote: > > does anyone know anything about elbow replacements? Guest guest
hey georgina, yes i will be doing my first elbow replacement in a few weeks. no, they are not done very often but in my case there arent any other viable options. we tried therapy but it only worsened the joint and an inhection would only be to a delay. i am in remission with kidney disease, my kidneys are doing really good. i am currently offline cuz my computer crashed, i am using a relatyives computer right now but thanx for your concern, brandy _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Hello I might also be looking at an elbow replacement. I have been waiting to hear back from my sergeon on this matter. He sent my xrays off to the mayo clinic for another surgeon that does alot of the papers on elbow replacements in JA. My elbow has been bad for years and the joint is pretty much gone now. My elbow is always in pain and it catches and pops all the time witch is very painful. Only over thing they could do if they choose that elbow replacement isan't the best thing right now is to clean out what is left of the joint. I have bone spurs on my elbow witch isan't common in RA. I am now justing waiting to hear back from my doctor now. I called him yesterday but so far I haven't heard back from him. Elbow are being done more now then what they use to be. They have gotten a little better over the years but they still are not as common to replace as the knee shoulders and hips.
Guest guest
hi aaron, so what did your doc say? good news i hope. my elbow is gone and they said probably has been for a long time, they dont know how i had any range of motion or strength in it all. they dont know how i do alot of things, funny huh? what sucks is it might happen to my other one, this happened as a result of my shoulder replacement, they strapped my left arm to me in a " L " shape for a month. of course, my arm got stuck that way, its better now but nothing like what it was before. and the joint damage is too severe to get it bak any other way. whats even worse? its my other elbow that puts me to tears! it hurts so bad i cradle that arm cuz the pain just emulates down my arm, killing my wrist and hand also. its awful and i am tired of the hospital, arent you? i have some kick butt pain meds, but thats exactly what they do, kick my butt not just my elbow. well, thanks and talk at ya later, brandy > Hello > I might also be looking at an elbow replacement.
