Guest guest
Hi Kathy, No more prednisone? That's terrific. I'm glad to hear some good news And I hope things will continue to get even better for Tally. Whatever it is that's making the difference, every bit of improvement is a positive step in the right direction. For , I'm not too certain what's going on. It seems like this last drop to 7.5mgs prednisone has undone the good that was taking place. It may very well not be at all related to his hormones, after all. Instead, at this stage I'm left thinking ... again .... that everything seems to hinge on the amount of steroid he gets. Something, I'm not sure what if it's not related to the steroid dose, has happened. His arthritis, which had been laying low for about 5 months, with just a small complaint every now and then, has become more active again. In fact, I was called by the nurse to come pick him up from school again today. His wrists had some visible inflammation. He said his right elbow and shoulder hurt. And both of his feet. His ankles and on top, by the metatarsals. He didn't over do anything yesterday. He stayed in and was working on all his school assignments. Yet this morning he had a hard time even just getting out of bed. Morning stiffness has returned. And morning tears. The rash has been around a lot, too. Great, huh? So ... he's sleeping now. Here on the couch. And hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day. Take care, Georgina akally@... wrote: > > Georgina, > Tally is completely off the prednisone. Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I've missed you all. Haven't been able to get online the past few days. GTE had a busy signal for the first time ever, in our 5 years with this ISP but it stayed busy for a very long time. Added to that is the trouble we've been having with our electricity. Well, the children all thought it was wonderful. Playing hide and seek and tag by flashlight Getting to eat and read by candle-light. Josh worried only when we thought his Playstation 2 might have been destroyed. Turns out the VCR defaulted to different settings and once that was discovered we got it working again. Five days in a row we've had major outages in the neighborhood. Sometimes lasting just an hour or two, sometimes 5 hours and longer. So ... I don't want to take any unnecessary chances. We've got a surge protector but just in case, I'm going to shut down the computer again after typing this note. I am so tired of having to reset all of the digital clocks, especially the one on the microwave oven! Just wanted to let you all know that is feeling lots better now. Starting on Saturday, we upped his prednisone from 7.5mgs to 30mgs (for a temporary period of just 5 days) hoping to avert what seemed to be a flare coming on. It was scary to see all those familiar signs again. The inflammation was so bad that it was clearly visible, even to someone without any medical training. He even woke up on Saturday morning with a huge nodule on his left wrist. Already, that seems to have settled down a little. Josh felt well enough to go to school yesterday and today. things are looking good. We've never raised the dose for just a short time like this but hopefully, it will have been just what he needed and there won't be any difficulty switching back to 7.5mgs come Thursday. Meanwhile, I got a call from the nurse at my daughter's school yesterday, to come pick her up. Fine all weekend and suddenly she had a fever of 101.7 and started feeling lousy. Today she has a cough. Guess I'll have to call the pediatrician and see if he can do a throat culture. Looks red and irritated in there, so I've been pampering her and pushing lots of fluids. Well, I just wanted to let you know what was going on here. Sorry I haven't been able to provide this week's arthritis news and research articles yet. Just don't want to take a chance and maybe fry the computer, if that's even possible, with the electricity going on and off while it's on. I will get to it as soon as I can, okay? Also, hello and welcome ... to all of our new members. And a Happy Belated Birthday, to Alyssa Take care, Georgina Georgina wrote: > > Hi Kathy, > > No more prednisone? That's terrific.
