Guest guest
Hi to all. My name is Kerry, and I am new to the group. My daughter, , is 10 and is pretty typical in that she was diagnosed with pauciarticular JRA when she was 3 - first one knee, then the other was affected, and then after about a year, she went into remission and we thought we had seen the last of the arthritis. Then, when she was 8, we noticed that one of her knees looked swollen. Sure enough, it had returned, only this time much worse. This time it has affected both of her knees, an ankle, a wrist, an elbow and a few fingers - all at once. There hasn't been much change in two years - she is only on Celebrex (was Naprosyn until recently), and seems to be repeating the pattern of getting her joints drained and injected on a regular basis. Looks like we'll have to try her on methotrexate soon, which is pretty scary, but from what I read, most of your kids are using it, and I have learned a lot about how to take it, how to stop nausea, etc. - fantastic information. Thanks. The reason I'm writing tonight is that I was watching " A Current Affair " tonight (Sydney, Australia) and they ran a segment linking the MMR Immunisation with autism, but also mentioned a link with arthritis. I had previously read someone's message which made mention of this link with arthritis, so I started listening with great interest. The website for the show has a fact sheet on this episode: http://aca.ninemsn.com.au/stories/533.asp .. There seems to be the suggestion that it is the 3 virus combined in the one injection that is the problem. This program got me thinking....'s booster MMR immunisation was on 24/9/98 - her arthritis returned a couple of months after that. I know this could be a coincidence, but I have a strong desire to gather as much information on this subject as I can. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? Has this subject been covered before? If so, I missed it, and would appreciate being referred to any relevant information. Thanks....Kerry. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
