OSHA can help with office complaint

September 13, 2002

Question: Who can I get to inspect the heating and cooling system of my

workplace for possible black mold problems?

My employer doesn't want to admit there might be a problem, yet everyone who

works in the office is constantly coughing and sneezing.

Also, isn't there a state or federal agency that would ensure my rights to

work in a safe and clean office environment? -- R.P., .

Answer: A complaint may be filed with the federal Occupational Safety and

Health Administration via the Internet by going to the OSHA workers' page at

http://www.osha.gov/as/opa/worker/index.html That page contains a wealth of

information about worker rights and employer responsibilities.

You also may contact the regional OSHA office in Atlanta, Ga. at

1-404-347-3573. The regional OSHA office's mailing address is 1375 Peachtree

Street NE, Suite 587, Atlanta, GA, 30367.
