Please consider me a skeptic. Using one organism to defeat another can

quite possibly replace one allergenic situation with another. All

microorganisms have the potential to have an effect on human health,

particularly for people who are immune compromised by illness or even

prolonged mold exposure. I am skeptical of any company claiming to do better

than any EPA approved products. The claim of being used on naval submarine

base housing suggests some military approval, or perhaps this was simply a

few sailors being individually sold a bill of goods. I see no mention of

this product on the web site for the Army Center for Health Promotion and

Preventive Medicine. Why not, if it's so good? Mold is a major military

housing problem being investigated by CHPPM.

As someone with an allergy to something in my workplace where the experts

say there is no problem, a common experience for mold victims, I was

intriged by one other claim:

" They (Bio-Science) came in, applied their enzyme formula, and within

days, these facilities were safe for human habitation. Needless to say, we

were all quite impressed. " Who says these facilities were safe for human

habitation, the experts, or people who had such severe reactions previously

that they wanted to flee?

This letter from ( who?) suggests another probable

charlatan trying to fleece money from desparate victims. Perhaps if it

really works, can provide us with news links rather than his own

testimonial.

Subject: The Company writes, about their product for Toxic Mold Removal!

Dear all:

Here is the nice letter we recieved this morning and am forwarding it, and

hope that it answers your questions regarding this " non-Chemical: treatment.

Thank you for linking us up to your site. I hope we can help people with the

toxic mold crisis. Bio-Science is dedicated to eliminating the mold problem

and creating healthier and happier homes. I appreciate you

supporting our company and most of all believing in our work. let me know if

Bio-Science can be some assistance in the future. I am adding a article

written about the company. I hope you find it interesting.

Thanks-

Can you KILL Toxic Mold

without destroying your house?

This company uses biological warfare on toxic mold --

and the U.S.Navy says it works!

Can the threat of toxic mold be eliminated without

destroying your home? Yes, At least, that is the

contention of Shippole, president of a

Shrewsbury, Mass., company called Bio-Science

Environmental Services and Laboratory, Inc.

Bio-Science has pioneered the use of enzyme-based

products that attack biological threats like toxic mold

on the biochemical level. Shippole says his company's

method has the promise of revolutionizing the

remediation of toxic mold, which usually involves the

destruction of infested buildings. The technique has

already been used with great success at a U.S. Naval

facility, saving millions of U.S. tax dollars in the

process.

Shippole says the idea of using biological agents to

fight biological contamination first came in the 1980s

and '90s, when oil companies were struggling with the

problem of gas that had seeped from underground storage

tanks at corner gas stations across New England. The

companies were under the gun to clean up the

contamination, which posed a threat to groundwater and

the environment.

That idea turned out to be a proprietary enzyme-based

product that Bio-Science injected into the soil, which

was then cleansed by natural microbial action, without

having to be removed and replaced. The petroleum

companies that opted for Shippole s solution over the

available alternatives found themselves saving

substantial amounts of time and dollars in the bargain.

When concern began arising over a new threat - toxic

mold - Shippole said that the concept of using

biochemical agents to defeat what is, after all, a

biologic threat was a natural.

" Just like with the gas stations, we saw this new

problem, with people knocking down buildings that might

have been saved, and others tearing out walls and

ceilings and floors and replacing perfectly salvageable

materials, we realized that, in many cases, those

drastic, costly, time-consuming measures were not

necessary at all, " Shippole said.

Bio-Science then went to work to find new formulations

of enzyme agents that could fight all the various forms

of toxic mold - not just the infamous " black mold "

called stachybotrys.

" Aspergillus is so dangerous that I have been asked not

to send our samples to a certain laboratory because

they fear it could contaminate their own environment, "

Gorton, executive vice president, says. " This

lab processes plague and anthrax, but doesn't want to

work with aspergillus. "

Bio-Science has already used this method at the US

Naval Submarine Base in Groton, Conn.

Base Housing Officer Harth said sailors on base

tried all the EPA-approved methods for suppressing the

various toxic molds, but nothing worked.

" They (Bio-Science) came in, applied their enzyme

formula, and within days, these facilities were safe

for human habitation. Needless to say, we were all

quite impressed. "

Shippole is quite confident in his company. " We've

clearly proved that enzyme remediation works. Now we

need to convince people to face up to their air quality

problems by taking a proactive approach to the

situation. An aggressive strategy will prevent

additional illnesses, absenteeism, lost productivity

and such, and, of course, the expensive lawsuits that

inevitably follow a diagnosis of toxic mold

contamination. "

" First and foremost, this is a health issue. Only

secondarily is it a cost issue. If it was your child in

a contaminated school, or your spouse working in the

contaminated office building, you would want the

situation fixed immediately, and rightly so. "

Shippole feels that, if there was no cost factor, every

contamination would be addressed without delay. " Enzyme

remediation at $6.00 per square foot as compared to

construction costs of 50 to 100 times that, certainly

ought to be considered, I would think. "
