The Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services office releases a " Buyers Guide to Home and Renters Insurance " Wednesday. Insurance regulators say most homeowners don't know that lower rates are available. The guide compares current homeowner premiums from the companies that write most the policies in the state. Grand Rapids, Dearborn, Detroit, Livonia, Southfield and Warren are among the communities used for the comparisons. In Southfield, homeowner rates range from $275 to $3,014 a year. That's for a home and its contents insured for $147,000. On the Net: Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services, http://www.michigan.gov/cis Copyright 2002 by The Associated Press.
