Tammy...has been beautiful here in Pennsylvania...i also live here! Cold

weather suppose to be back this weekend but pretty soon will be no

more..lol! Glad to hear about how well Gabby is doing..hope it continues. My

kids all walk on their toes...the little ones do. But I think they

eventually outgrow it...my teens did but my son kept doing it past the age

of 5..then stopped.

Hey Everyone - Great weather in PA this week! I have

an idea for those of you talking about strollers and

wheelchairs. Working in the med. equipment industry

for over 20 years now look into " Pogon " strollers -

can grow and are made for older kids. They do have a

website too and they have HCPC codes so insurance

carriers do cover them - state MA as well.

Gabby is 4 now and still walks on her toes alot. Both

the ped. & the rheumy said that it's normal for kids

her age to still do that - but I have my doubts - as

her mom I think it's contributed from her JRA

(systemic). We've been off ALL meds for a month now

and only dealing with the rash off & on...(I HOPE I

HOPE I HOPE! Lol).

Hugssssssss to all!

Love,

Tammy (Jim, Annie & especially Gabby too!)

Hi,I am so glad Gabbby is off the meds again. My sons rheumy has had kids that

the only way you can tell they are sick is they have a rash and nothing

else, hopefully that will be gabbys case. Thanks for the info on the Pango

strollers,I have found one site that carries it,very reasonable compaired to

other strollers, and it looks and sounds perfect for a day at the zoo or

amusement park,or even school on a bad day. Becki and 3sytsemic

Yall are talking about the toe walking

got me to thinking about years ago started walking at exactly 1 year

old

just as my son my son walked ok to me would walk on her toes had

to make her wear shoes so she would walk flat always bought the high tops

white shoes for her later i bought tennie shoes for her and noticed the way

she walked was on the toes never thought anything was wrong just figured

she would be a ballerina cause she was real good at it walking on the toes

lolol even my father in law commented on it she was able to even run on

those toes the doctor always said she would start walking flat when she was

ready

because she was short i also figured she wanted to reach things better so

thats another reason it NEVER dawn on me until yall mentioned it

as she got older she liked high top sneakers and boots the foot doctor said

that was because those high tops are extra supports for the ankles and feel

good on anyone who has weak ankles why did it take a few years to figure

this out

when the doctor should have started testing years ago for what has resulted

now?

Dear Robbin,

Kate also started out walking on her toes. We always joked about her

being a ballerina too! At that time her dr. said it was either from her

using a walker or just a habit. When she was dx. at 3, her rheaumy said

it was because her ankles hurt and that was her way to relieve the

pressure. I know alot of kids walk this way--but it makes you wonder if

it is something to watch for with this JRA stuff.

and Kate--7--severe poly and AVN
