Companies dump those bmc> with water-damage claims It's not only water claims. If you have certain breeds of dogs or exotic birds or animals, you won't get insurance unless you pay high risk premiums. If you have bad credit, you might not even get insurance because you're a high risk for burning your house down. I think the time has come for regulation and revelation of the insurance industry to expose the underwriters' net profits and open their books to us. What the hell good is paying for insurance when you are going to be dropped for entering a legitimate claim? I know that many a greedy lawyer is to blame for frivolous claims in exorbitant amounts. What the hell good are claims adjusters if you can't put in a claim or collect on one? What the hell good are insurance agents if knowing you on a personal level can't vouch for your honesty and integrity. Why bother paying higher rates for the middleman? They're nothing but paper pushers and mail drops for late bills anymore. THE SOLUTION: 1. Forget low deductibles. You might as well not file for anything less than $5000 or you'll find yourself without insurance. Get only catastrophic coverage. 2. Pay into an escrow account for those smaller damages for a local co-op pool of handymen to have minor repairs made for damages. The insurance companies don't want our business anymore - not unless you pay their price and guarantee them that you won't file any claims. This is the biggest fraud yet perpetrated upon the American public. Why aren't more people hollering or doing something about it? 3. Before you buy a car, consider the insurance rating on it and ask first how much insurance will premiums will be. My car insurance rate went up considerably for 2 reasons that were explained to me. The first was the normal hike this year for insurance. The second was that my compact Ford Focus station wagon is classified as #15 [replacement value?] - same as an SUV! I wrote to Ford over a month ago to explain this, but still haven't gotten an answer from them. I have requested more information from the insurance companies about this, but I still get no answers. My next car will be a #2 piece of crap. 4. Maybe we could pay insurance to the glass companies and auto body shops instead. Spread the wealth a little bit. It would also reduce the costs of repairs considerably given the fact that most repair shops factor in the deductible by adding it to their tabs for the insurance companies. It's time for the insurance industry to become accountable for their increases and failures to provide the services that they have contracted with us. I'll bet that if you nailed down who the underwriters are and what their assets are, you'd find that they are crying wolf all the way to the Cayman Island and Swiss banks.
