Hi Friends,

It has now been 12 weeks since I started Anakinra / Kineret. The results

have been truly amazing. I didn't want to write updates weekly because I

knew there would be ups and downs, but really after 12 weeks - it has been

great.

For starters 90% good days now reign!!!! And the 10% which are not so good

are just down to over doing it!!! I have been away to Gran Canaria on

holiday - I walked for miles along beeches and hill walks. I am back

exercising and doing weights. I can now do some press ups, lift a pot of

potatoes, cut the lawn, wash the car, get up and down the stairs properly

and have a good nights sleep.

Driving is more comfortable and as I build up my muscle again, I see daily

improvements in all aspects of life.

Flares still come and go, but the drug really dampens them down so much so

they are pretty insignificant. The sweats are are the tell tale sign of a

flare - the smell, dampness and heat - but as for joints - they are much

improved - swelling is confined to a little round my wrists and ankles - but

this could be due also to the increased levels of activity.

Injections every day could be tolerated if this is the long term results -

site reactions have gone totally now and the only down side if finding a

spot I ain't injected b4!!!!!

I have stuck to a low fat diet - high protein and fibre and have also

started to loose weight - down almost 1 stone in 3 months. I feel more

comfortable overall and think I may have found the right cocktail of drugs -

20mg MTX, 7.5mg / 5.0mg Steroids daily & Anakinra daily!!! I take vitamin,

calcium and a heap of other 'good for you' drugs to help with energy levels

and fight off baddies!!!!!

I hope others get to try this wonder drug and have all the benefits and more

which I have had. Here's to more medical breakthroughs!!
