Though the health risks are unclear, the company running the tests say cleaning it up is the best course of action. The crowd of Sullivan East students are enjoying their last bit of freedom before getting back to business on Monday. Their parents are also relieved that potentially harmful mold will no longer be a threat to students health. Parent Larry Garland says, " My student is not affected with the black mold. But some of them that I know that are really sick with lung problems and breathing. " Parent Debi Beverly " They usually don't miss school, so that makes me wonder a little bit. " The test results will give the district an idea how to get rid of the mold, and make sure it doesn't come back.....which gives Sullivan East parents some comfort. Debi Beverly says, " Now that it is being taken care of, we're very well satisfied, and hope it won't be long until kids are back in their home school. " Larry Garland says, " The school board are responsible people. I trust Mr. O'Dell and his staff to take care of all of it. " Clean-up may take four to six weeks, and may cost up to 600-thousand dollars.. that insurance won't pay. Parents can get more information about the mold tests at the Sullivan County Department of Education.
