Guest guest
: If either Pet or SPECT were available in New Mexico, I would be very, very tempted to want to incorporate this as it is so hard to argue with. Unfortuneately, neither scan is available in our state, and we will neither have the room nor the financial means to set up a SPECT Scan unit as we start up. I am trying to get a hold of the administrator of Children's Medical Services that operates under the Dept of Health, has nothing to do with Medicaid, and takes care of the needs of children with serious chronic medical problems. I will see if that means they will help out with HBOT for their CP children. Meanwhile, I am trying to find out who is in charge of the fragile child waiver program. We won our case because we could prove clear improvement from Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy with before/after SPECT- scan imaging. I encourage you to incorporate SPECT-scans into your practice if you have not done so already. Just to "prove" objectivity in your reimbursement pursuit, it may be best to have the SPECT-scans performed off-site on "neutral" territory--such as at a hospital. 2. As you proceed, I would encourage you to recruit a family with a brain-injured child who will have the best chance of significant and dramatic improvement from HBOT. Take before/after video and contact as many members of the news media as possible to educate them and inform them of how all this works--both HBOT and the Medicaid law for children as found in Paragraph 5. In addition, you might want to pull the CDC paper from http://gro ups./group/medicaid/files/ to make the case that HBOT is also a money-saver for government and society. I also found this: http://www.h ealthierschools.org/mits/mitsmin5.html . Maruca's plans to deliver Medicaid services through the school systems. Perhaps some friends of yours in the media would be interested in putting two and two together with this? On this page is a list of people and their phone numbers who might just be on your side: http://www.h ealthierschools.org/mits/mitsfrum.html >For clairification, Medicaid New Mexico said no to TBI/ABI. I have a data bank with email addresses for almost every state legislator for every state. Below are the email addresses for New Mexico. It might be worth a try to put together a " presentation " of your case. You might even want to lobby them to fund a SPECT imager so as to prove the efficacy of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Currently, the pediatric neurologists throw their hands up and say there's nothing they can do--so nothing is ever done. This nothingness is compounded by the fact that pediatric neurologists have the credentials that--on paper--says they are the experts of brain-injury in children. Now, when the most severely injured children get nothing to improve their brain-injury, they eventually become wards of the state, and according to the CDC paper those kids will cost taxpayers and society $503,000/year/per kid and $2.4 billion per kid per lifetime. If pediatric neurology has given up, and the government has to take over, then the government--both state and federal--still has a responsibility to ensure their constituents that public monies are utilized as wisely as possible--no matter what any special interest group (pediatric neurologists & neurologists) has to say about it. To further help, you might want some graphic examples of the efficacy of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. I have uploaded 2 before/after examples pulled from the downloadable video from Neubauer's website: http://www.oceanhbo.com . You can download these from the photo section of this listserv. I have stacked these two examples to create a letterhead that I frequently use. Once people see the effect of HBOT for themselves--particularly lay people, it becomes very difficult to argue with. http://photos./group/medicaid/vwp?.dir=/ & .src=gr & .dnm=Cas e+study+%231.jpg & .view=t & .done=http%3a//photos./group/medicaidfo rhbot/lst%3f%26.dir=/%26.src=gr%26.view=t http://photos./group/medicaid/vwp?.dir=/ & .src=gr & .dnm=Cas e+study+%232.jpg & .view=t & .done=http%3a//photos./group/medicaidfo rhbot/lst%3f%26.dir=/%26.src=gr%26.view=t <gail.beam@...>,<mcoll@...>,<anna.crook@...>,<dfoley@sta te.nm.us>,<mpgarcia@...>,<mpgubbels@...>,<jheaton@...> ,<tmarquardt@...>,<wken.martinez@...>,<rbmiera@...>,<jmohor ovic@...>,<danice.picraux@...>,<drodella@...>,<judy.russ ell@...>,<mstewart@...>,<jamesg.taylor@...>,<tcat@cyb erport.com>,<dtripp@...>,<wallace@...>,<radair@...>,<pcamp os@...>,<jcarraro@...>,<ccisneros@...>,<dduran@.... us>,<dfeldman@...>,<carroll.leavell@...>,<plyons@...>,<r maes@...>,<william.payne@...>,<lrawson@...> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ " I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.
