Talk about got getting those that deserve it, read this story about my wonderful Barnstable. Barnstable is the town that knowingly allowed builders to build our home in violation of dozens of state and federal laws and codes. They refused to allow their inspectors into our home citing their 5th amendment rights of incrimination. They also knowingly collected over 40 thousand dollars in our property taxes when they knew our home had no value. Massachusetts was also responsible for part of the problems because state builders cut main floor joists that caused the roof to start to collapse which caused our deadly Toxic Mold. Tom , chief state building inspector, inspected and said the house was dangerous, had no value, we couldn't sell it and we should get out. He has refused to write a report as law requires. Why is a town building important but my family is not?

Now read my letter to the newspaper which I doubt they will print.

In My View

Cape Cod Times

Who is in charge?

After reading of the busted pipes in Town Hall I have several questions that many Barnstable residents should be asking. My very first question is why didn't the alarm system work? It sounds like nobody from the Engineering department or from the plumbing or inspection services bothered to check it. Why?

If the alarm system didn't work due to a product failure, is Barnstable going to demand that the alarm company pay for all of the damage? The alarm company must be held liable if their product malfunctioned. Barnstable citizens should not pay if the company was at fault.

If insurance company adjusters discover that the reason for the busted pipe was due to neglect, their will be no insurance coverage. If there is mold and the pipe busted due to neglect, there is no insurance coverage. Insurance companies do not cover Toxic Mold unless it is due to something like a busted water pipe. They know the health and financial dangers from Toxic Mold claims.

If nobody from the town checked for frozen water pipes, why not? Has not the Town Manager, Town Council or the town inspectors or engineers realized that in New England freezing temperatures can cause pipes to freeze? A degree isn't needed to know that, just common sense is required.

Does the town have a plan, other than relying upon a K-9, to determine if pipes are broken? Has the Town a written procedure or protocol for examining these types of issues in town buildings and schools? It sounds like the town has no idea and lacks planning. Seems we have all the smart people that can't plan.

In regards to mold, this can be the most serious issue. Mold only comes from water and/or moisture. I am not a Doctor or Lawyer, nor am I a Microbiologist or mold inspector. I do not have any business that deals with anything involving mold. I did not learn of Toxic Mold from a text book or become an "expert" by taking a test. I, unlike many, am not here to make money from people suffering. My advice is free to those that ask. I have offered this information to Barnstable in the past and they have ignored it.

My knowledge was learned from having Toxic Mold come into my home as an uninvited and unwanted guest. My knowledge is based upon trying to cure my Family from the illnesses we got from the Toxic Mold. It is based upon an ongoing and continuing fight of two years against Toxic Mold, and those who caused it, and one we are still ill from. Our Doctor's have said we may never recover from all of the Medical effects from the Toxic Mold.

This Mold is not the type that you see in your shower or that you can clean with Lysol or Mr. Clean. This may be Toxic Mold and could be a danger to many. To anybody that thinks or says that Toxic Mold is not a danger or is no big deal, they are misinformed and go against what our own Government has stated.

The EPA suggests, as an example, that schools utilize their publication Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools to help train building personnel to conduct their own investigations of these issues. Dr. Eckardt Johanning, of Albany New York, has also written a book about Toxic Mold remediation for Schools and portable classrooms for the EPA. He is a recognized leading National Expert on Toxic Molds and my families Doctor. I would suggest Barnstable contact him and the EPA.

Has Barnstable or the company they hired, utilized or read either of these Government publications. If not, WHY? Dr. Strauss of Texas Tech is recognized as another leading expert on Toxic Mold. His Laboratory does Toxic Mold testing using standards and practices as defined by our Government. Is the Laboratory doing the Barnstable testing following these Government standards?

Dr. Louise Gerberding, Director of the CDC, told me that "we do know that exposure to high levels of mold may cause some illnesses in susceptible people". Her statement continued, "because molds can be harmful to some people, it is important to maintain buildings, prevent water damage and mold growth, and clean up moldy materials". She was directed to contact and discuss these issues of Toxic mold with me by President Bush. These communications took place within the past four months.

Another avenue the town should pursue is HUD. Vice-President Cheney had them contact me recently. HUD has given communities Federal Grants to help in the Toxic Mold fight. Is Barnstable to proud to admit they might have a mold problem and ask HUD for help? Any town employees can contact OSHA for their health or safety concerns.

The town of Barnstable has failed the citizens of Barnstable on the issue of Toxic Mold. As the Town knows, it is in some town schools and homes. These facts are in the town's own public records and files. In spite of this knowledge, Barnstable has refused to allow their health or building inspectors to investigate this issue. The Town Manger, Town Council, Town Attorney and Inspection services have known of this fact for at least two years.

Should anybody want information on Toxic Mold they may contact me at kenhmoulton@... or contact Senator Rob O'Leary's office. They will then contact me for help as they have in the past.
