Guest guest
Almost five years ago my husband and I purchased our first home. Within a month of living in this new home I became ill and have not been healthy since then. At first my doctor said I was just having a " bad flu year " . I was getting one virus infection after the next not to mention a huge list of other symptoms that started up. My main complaints have been the headaches & extreme fatigue. I have neurological problems that no doctors seem to have answers for. I have tremors, visual problems plus more. I am under 30 and taking daily heart medicine for arrythmia and chest pains. The list goes on and on. I will not bore you with all of the details but after looking at the list of toxic mold symptoms the answers are just screaming at me. The sad thing is I suspected it was the house immediately but never did anything to test it. I have been accused of it being in my head so therefore I just kept quiet about it. When we moved into our house we noticed mold up the walls that we simply primed with Kilz and painted over it. We also had a bathroom and kitchen that had dry rot. We had the house inspected prior to buying it and everything came back as being fine and repairs were made in the bathroom prior to our purchase. It was our first house and we really didn't know what we were doing. We have since lost this house because of my inability to work because of being so sick. Which of course also led to me being home a lot more. We have moved out of our house and into another house that I think may be plagued not to mention we brought all of our stuff with us. Not knowing. This house had some type of flood from the bathroom upstairs to the living room downstairs. There is a huge patch spot about the size of a bath tub in the living room ceiling. The living room has a damp feeling and an odd area in the carpet which rusts when our furniture is on it. The area in the carpet is also a large area and is almost directly under the spot in the ceiling. As for the others in the household including my five year old daughter they too are starting to show some outward signs. None as severe as mine but syptoms are present. My daughter has allergies that we can seem to pin point, asthma & she frequently gets sinus infections. I figured it wasn't mold because as a toddler she would have been more vulnerable and sicker than I have been. But from reading I am finding this is not the case. Sorry for the novel. I just need to know where to turn next. We have not had the house tested at this point. Other then a little mold in the bathroom and in one bedroom I don't see any visable mold. How do we go about testing? Also what steps do we need to take? Financially we can't just pick up and leave everything and buy a new house. This has already created a financial strain on us because of the fact I haven't been able to work for over three years. We live with my parents at this point and pay them rent but I just found out their insurance company excludes mold. We have renters and I haven't checked that out yet. But with the damage being done prior to the home purchase can you go back on the previous home owners or the home inspectors. I hope someone can help me.
