Residents of southwest Houston are suing an apartment complex claiming disease and sickness because management won't take care of a mold problem.ABC13 Eyewitness News(6/17/03 - SW HOUSTON) — A group of Houstonians has banded together in a fight to get what they say they deserve - home improvements. Residents of the Park at Lakeside Apartments on Briar Forest near Wilcrest are fed up and suing their landlord, claiming unsafe living conditions. Residents say mold covers parts of their apartments and management has ignored repeated requests to clean it up. 's convinced the mold is making her family sick. "My son and me and my daughter are all on allergy shots. My daughter has sinus infection after sinus infection after sinus infection," said . Residents say they frequently find raw sewage outside in the parking lot and they should not have such problems when they pay nearly a thousand dollars a month in rent. Many say they'd move, but fear apartment management would sue them for breaking their lease. In the meantime, management says they've recently replaced their maintenance staff and will investigate the complaints.
