Dr. Fischer recently testified before the Dan Burton Congressional hearing on dental amalgams.

Here are some of his comments: Dental amalgam fillings contribute more mercury (Hg) to the body burden than all other sources combined.... These fillings contain 50% Hg which is more neurotoxic than lead, cadmium, or even arsenic

To put this in perspective, the amount of Hg contained in the average filling exceeds the US EPA standard for human exposure for over 100 years. . . .it takes only 1/2 gram of Hg (the amount in 1 filling) to contaminate all fish in a 10 acre lake. . . Hg escapes from amalgam fillings continuously as a vapor. 74-100% of inhaled Hg vapor is absorbed into the human body. . . Inhaled Hg vapor from dental fillings accumulates in the body in levels with cause pathphysiology. . .

21% of DDSs no longer place amalgams. So says a survey of a dental magazine.

But look at this: "The overwhelming motivation for the shift away from amalgams is esthetics." This consumer demand marketing creates problems for you. Rarely will these DDSs have any concept of what we consider safety in removing old mercury-fillings. If you need help in finding a DDS with appropriate health-centeredness, let us know.
