I haven't visited here in awhile. Computer time has been overtaken

by the green blob...ha ha. Let me give a short (is it ever really

short???) background. Bought a house...5 weeks later had mold

tested....whole bathroom everywhere full of stachybotrys. We were

feeling sick but thank goodness for only a few weeks (have been in a

bad mold situation before where I was bedridden for a long time).

Were advised to move out of the house because of the large area the

mold covers...both bathrooms. Bought a trailer. Been living there

for 2 months. Thankful that we could finance the trailer...but man

this wasn't my idea of buying my first house after 10 years of

saving. Been going back and forth with previuos owners. We are

lucky enought that the selling realtor realizes the bind they are in

and has convinced them to pay for it...but really i think they just

feel that they have to pay the 14,000 it will take to remove it and

remediate the bathrooms. They want to start the work next Thursday.

I was so relieved to find that it. Then, come to find out they we

are going to be the ones signing the contract saying that it will be

paid for in our name and the house will have a lien put on it. This

sounds so scary to me...to have my credit, my house put on the

line...what if these people decide they don't have the money to cover

the costs of testing...and if it is in the rafters...the

kitchen.... WEll you get the idea. We will be the ones Purofirst

(remediation company) comes after if the owners decide not to send us

money. WE have been taking care of this realtor to realtor (which

our realtor is grandmother in law). I think we are going to go to an

attorney before they start work. WE called like 15 different

attorneys when it all went down and no one would take our case. We

don't have the money but I just can't believe that someone wouldn't

take our case...I mean we just bought the darn house. We had a

contractor say the shower liner looks less than 4 years old which

means the previous owners knew about it for sure so we have the

California mold disclosure law to back us up. Are these lawywer just

blowing smoke up our butts? Should I just take what the owners have

offered? SO far we have spent over $10,000 on testing, second

opinions and out of pocket lodging...etc. I am a SAHM and want to

get my kids back in the house, but I also want what is right. I

don't want a bunch of money but I do not want my credit and house on

the line either. That scares me. I was hoping to get some advice

from other. I am so lost and so unsure of what direction to take.

On top of it, my marriage doesn't seem to be holding up to well

becuase we do not agree on any of it. He wants to just give it all

up and move back in. I want to move back in but I want everything

tested and taken care of right. HELP!!!!!
