Do you have Medicaid or Medicare?

I'm more familiar with Medicaid than Medicare, although I just

remembered something.

Re: Medicare; I spoke with someone at an HBOT clinic a year or so ago

and they were treating a Medicare patient with HBOT. Here's how. The

guy was a stroke patient who was living in a nursing home, and

Medicare will pay for any outpatient services as long as the patient

is a nursing home resident. Maybe it's possible to get yourself

committed to a nursing home on the condition that you can go for

outpatient HBOT.

HBOT is typically not covered by Medicare for TBI. On the other hand,

there is now a good body of evidence of HBOT efficacy for TBI, and it

just so happens that the primary researchers for this are in

Minnesota--so you're in luck.

The primary HBOT-for-TBI researchers are the Rockswolds; I think they

are a husband and wife team. They are in Minneapolis.

Here are a couple of references:

Harch, MD recently published a paper proving that HBOT in

chronic brain-injury forces the growth of new vascular tissue, which

in turn leads to improved cognitive function. It's a landmark paper.

I have a pdf of it and will try to upload it in the next few days to

medicaid/files/

Now. Some other good news. If you have trouble getting HBOT via

Medicare, let me know, and I will help you find an attorney.

>AT LAST, I have a prescription from my neurologist for a SPECT

scan/ HBOT dive/SPECT scan evaluation. Medicare I am advised will pay

for this. I need advice about where I can get this done. It has to be

in the US, I'm sure, to get Medicare to reimburse, and unless I'm

willing to pay extra (which I can't afford) I need to find someone

who accepts Medicare. Any suggestions? Thanks!
