Guest guest
> I seem to remember hearing that benefits from hyperbaric > therapy (if any) are > temporary. Many of the effects appear to be temporary, but some are longer lasting. Most protocols I've seen recommend several courses of treatment per year. One of the most exciting things I read was that the partial pressure of O2 in the tissues went from nearly zero to 50mmhg (after several months treatment) and this pressure was maintained for up to three years! It is proposed that this happened because HBT causes new blood vessels grow into tissue and this is the cause of the increased O2 in the tissue. Before I do this I need more " eyes " and " ears " out there. I need more info on how many atmospheres of pressure are recommended, O2 flow rates, etc. Any links or info is appreciated. Guest guest
Patti: Its Shell. I did hyperbaric for 9 months solid. I had a serious andrare bone infection called Actinomycosis due to an assault that required reconstruct surgery and pins. It was combined with IV antibiotics for nine months. Unfortunatley its hard to determine if it was the hyperbaric or the IV. But I can tell you this. I marketed for a hyperbaric treatment center for a year. Here's what I know. It is more accepted in Europe than the U.S. Some say its because the U.S. medical market would lose alot of money if this treatment were more widely accepted. I don't get too involved in the politics but I do think it is a great treatment for some things that the U.S. is not utilizing it for. It is very expensive and insurance companies Balk at it. I had a 90,000 bill which almost didn't get paid. But I had to try it or I was going to lose my facial structure for the second time. There are 2 types of chambers. Monoplace which is like a singular tube you fit in and larger ones that look like submarines where you wear a hood. I like the singular tubes. Its basically 100 percent oxygen which is pressurized forcing the o2 into tissues, bloodstream and bone. Thats why its good for healing diabetic wounds, bone infections etc. My personal feeling is that its good for fibro patients as I have Fibro and never felt better on those treatments but its time consuming. We usually breathe 22 percent oxygen so 100 is quite a change. I think it is good for decubitis which older people in nursing homes get. But if they used it some nursing homes would have alot less patients which may be why it isn't used there. Its a shame. There is an " underground hyperbaric unit " (ie unit in hiding) in Santa , CA from what I understand. The one I marketed is in Beverly Hills, CA. It was a private facility. The patiens can watch TV while being treated. Very little pain involved except for getting used to the air pressure on your ears. It is also a good treatment for stroke patients. If you can catch them within 24 hours , it is said to reverse brain damage. Its also good for migraines and hang overs. hahahaha. Anyway...thats what I know...write me if you want more info. xo Shell
Guest guest
Oh by the way...i regards to temporary: I think benefits like wound healing are permanent ie: once the wound heals...it doesn't come back unless pressure is put back on it or reinjured or something...but benefits ie: for fatigue, exhaustion, energy i do think are temporary...basically just during the time (2 weeks , months) you are treating. I mean you feel good that day but not for days or weeks after. xo Shell
Guest guest
Hi \ I book I bought from amazon.com by Neubauer called hyperbaric oxygen therapy, explains its use. I did it 20 times at my doc's recommendation for what he thinks is the root of my symptoms, a bone infection. it has other uses but its used in conjunction with other treatment like antibiotics and bone debridment in my case . so far, no let up in symptoms but I'm have not given up yet. I did it 5 days a week for 1.5 hrs for 4 weeks at a very nice place in Mountian view ca. They are very willing to work with folks who cant work or have no insurance,... more info? let me know. erik " Skari, M " wrote: > > From: " Skari, M " <SkariPM@...> > > I am interested in hyperbaric therapy (HBT). I would have thought you would see a change for a bone infection. Especially after seeing the amazing pictures at: http://www.sechristind.com/cases_hbo.html Beware, the pictures are very graphic! Not for the squeemish! The pics look close to miraculous to me. However if your infection is deep in the bone it may take a long time to heal. At the previously listed URL about HBO and and Lyme says that the antibiotics are more effective with HB treatments. > I did it 5 > days a week > for 1.5 hrs for 4 weeks at a very nice place in Mountian view > ca. Do you know what atmospheric pressure they used on you? Did the chamber have pure O2 or did you wear an O2 mask? Are you going to get more treatments? Did you have any trouble with your ears? Did you notice any other benefits? Any problems? > They > are very willing to work with folks who cant work or have no > insurance,... more info? let me know. I know people balk at giving medical advice (for good reason), but do you think they would be open to helping me figure out a protocol for doing this on my own (with rented chamber)? Thanks for your input. Best of luck on your treatments. Patti --
Guest guest
Patti and : I was reading your note. Did you go inside the chamber with the hood on? If you ARE JUST WEARING a hood...but no submarine like chamber...it is not true hyperbaric. Many lewd salesman are pushing o2 treatments for parts of the body whih o ABOSLUTELY NOTHING. True Hyperbaric treatments treat the body SYSTEMICALLY! The only way this can happe is if YOU EIE BODY IS PRESSURIZED. Otherwise..its is like treating a toe on a gangrenous leg. Hyperbaric is excellent for bone infections but the way it works is by pressurizing the entire body...it forces the 100%o2 into the bloodstream.A steady stream of this forces it into the bone...as there is not as many live cells in the bone tissue. Thats the poop. The debridements are miserable...I can really relate. I had them. And the iv antibiotics are rough you brave soul xo Shell xoxoxoxoxox Shell
Guest guest
skari, the book explains the different use of HOT. there is no reference to renting a unit. theres no need to run out and buy it. I saw those photos.( I'm not so bad off I guess). so far no change. I went to two atmopheres, about 30psi and wore a plastic hood over my head with a seal around by neck, I got 100% oxygen. my ears got plugged going down and up but not a real problem. just chew gum. you can inquire at www.bayarea-hyperbarics.com.. today i saw my dental surgeon who recommends I do 20 more treatments. I will see my doctor and then decide. best, erik " Skari, M " wrote: > > From: " Skari, M " <SkariPM@...> > > Hi , > > > Hi \ I book I bought from amazon.com by Neubauer called > > hyperbaric oxygen therapy, explains its use. > > I saw this book at Amazon. Guest guest
: Hyperbaric Oxygen in a monoplace chamber or in a pressurized chamber with a hood is used for people who have dental implants often because bone is involved. It is quite effective for that. Many oral surgeons (periodontists????) recommend it. xo Shell

Guest guest
I have friends in VA who tried it with two of their children & didn't see any improvements. One of their children actually regressed for a few months. However I have other friends in VA & DE who tried it with their kids & their children made lots of improvement & they swear buy it. I guess it's like most other things out there it may work for some & may not work for others. Wendie > > Has anyone tried hyperbaric therapy? Guest guest
there are several families on the NFASG group (north fulton) that have tried this. i did 3 dives (about 15minutes each) with my then 4yo who couldnt tolerate the high pitched noise from the o2 being pumped in or the confined space. that said, i felt much better after the brief dives and may eventually do it for my autoimmune issues. for my son, it didnt work out. from what i have heard over the past 2yrs about hbot. its not a cure, or what one should spend money on before doing other things. but rather one that after you have done all the other things you wish to to help your child. many compare it to a massage, it feels great for the first few days after, but it requires repeat massages for the same relief. hope this info helps. hugs > > Has anyone tried hyperbaric therapy? Guest guest
Cyndi, My daughter, who is 18, has Downs and autism. I took her for HBOT a year ago. I did notice changes, though they were subtle. I would love to get her another 40 treatments soon. We noticed things like increased cognitive awareness. She just seemed more " with it " . She would zip through her puzzles and match games much more quickly. She slept better at night during treatment, and she never balked at going into the tank. It was a multi-place. is non-verbal. We didn't gain language from it, but I think with more treatments, that would probably come. I noticed the most difference about 6 weeks after treatment. Her speech therapist, who is also a good friend, really seemed to catch the difference in her awareness level. Hope this helps.
