Guest guest
HI Everyone and Ed, Here, here. I think whatever your political affiliation is, now is the time to make our representatives hear our needs. Palin has opened the door for this conversation and for this I thank her. However, this is also a page for us supporting our kids, whom we all love with all our hearts. So, I feel it is important to suggest to everyone to heed Palin's statement last night: She will be an advocate for special needs children in the White House. Now, I am under no illusions that any of us will be able to call her up and get help with our IEP, Insurance problems, etc. But, I also feel this is one of the greatest opportunities to move the Civil Rights of our kids forward so they can have their voices heard and needs met. I will not step on anyone's toes to push Palin; nor will I open debates on the two candidates. This is not the place for that. We have too many other battles to fight. However, please consider the hockey mom who also loves her little boy with all her heart and listen to her two speech lines about the Parents of Special Needs kids; and how she will advocate for us and them. Guest guest
Hi Janet, Thanks. I heard that earlier. I would like to find out the facts before making judgement.. CBS is not going to give the facts.... most reporters have no idea what they are writing about and just mix things up. I have seen that many times on news stories on the clinic I built for and all her friends. Most importantly, I am not running a Palin campaign. I am only suggesting that individuals look at her. And, if your point is valid, then each individual can make the decision to toss her. But, also, my response is that there are plenty of programs that are supposed to be for my daughter which I would love to see killed. I can name two: UCP and AACPDM which are non-profits and I think the worst offenders of our kids Civil Rights. In California there are others that overlap and then create the problem of them sending parents in circles where each department is claiming to other is responsible. (Medicaid and Regional Centers under the Lanterman Act). We have lived with that here. And, sometimes the departments, like the Regional Centers waste incredible amounts of money on legal advocacy for themselves, for example, while spending only a fraction of the funds for the kids. For example, they spent over $70,000 to deny of a $1,900 service. I'm only looking at her words where she said she would be an advocate, and I deeply believe McCain will be an advocate for our kids because of her life long actions. I will not advocate them to anyone on this list, though. I just wanted people to hear what I heard last night. Blessings At 12:33 PM 9/4/2008, you wrote: >FYI. > >Janet R. Guest guest
, While I agree with you in many ways on bureaucracy, you are advocating a political party and its idea, more than some people want. I'm not sure this is the best place for that. Remember, this can also be broken down to a Federal vs State's Rights issue as well. Federal gov't mandates services, and state's don't follow through and our kids are caught in the middle of the Constitutional legal argument - regardless of which side a person is on. So, the politics, as always can be left to perceptions... glass is half empty vs half full. I only wanted to point out that for the first time in history a candidate opened the doors for our kids. You and I have been at this full force for 13 years now ( turns 13 tomorrow!) and this is the first time a candidate focused on and her needs (sic = all our kids) I don't care if Adlai son comes back from the grave as long as he delivers my daughter's Civil Rights. But, I also don't want to push petty or simply personal politics.
