Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I have been a member of this group for about a year. I have severe Multiple Chemical Intolerance as a result of chemical exposures while I was in the military. Due to my neurological problems, I find it difficult to keep track of and know how to use these types of groups. I have seen lots of helpful dialogue and am now in need of some wisdom. We are fleeing a moldy house. We came to this house, believe it or not, to flee another, even worse house. I had mold testing done with Petri dishes set out for an hour and sent for analysis at the previous house. The numbers were off the chart. No Stachy was found in the air. I read on a mold site recently something that I never heard before, and here I thought I knew it all by now :-) From what I understand, Stachybotrys has a built in defense mechanism that allows itself to somehow disguise itself and not be detected in the air even though it is there. Makes sense because I do believe that the other house had stachy. It looked just like the stachy here. The houes I am in now has not been air tested as the one I just described. I am waiting on the petri dishes as we speak. However, the Board of Health (BIG JOKE) did come out and tested. The were ill prepared and didn't know jack about anything. Admittedly, the guy said, " you know more about this than I do " . How sad. Well, he did tape lifts and specimen collection. We had to show him everywhere to test. He had no idea and took no initiative to help find any mold or to tell us where it could be hiding. the specimen from the bathroom found stchybotrys. NO ONE seems to think this is an issue. We have a 7 month old living here that is having health problems as are all of us adults. Of course, I am the most sick. I called the EPA and both Dept of Health. I was told that I am overreacting. We have had zero assistance as far as what to tell the landlord about it. no one has notified him, except me. Since no one is backing me up that this is a health hazard, he is threatening to keep my security deposit and not release me from my lease unless I sign a release of liability! Now, if I can't get anyone to acknowledge this is a danger, why the release? I live in Cleveland, Ohio and would welcome any info. r/t legal, medical advise. I hope that I can find the answers when anyone responds. thank you in advance and wish good and better health to you all.
Guest guest
OSHA in my state told me that Stachy was not a threat because it was "hidden" behind lockers at work thus the staff was unable to touch it.Go figure!! Eileen
