Guest guest
Lady's and Gentlemen It look's as if everything we told you was true she has partnered up with the UHMS and the protocol is going to be 2.0 Sezuire producing. A whoping $ 485.00 a treatment. Now come on folk's I can tell you it cost me about 183.00 a tank for a GP45 liquid Cylin. I can run about 7 treatments off that. Ask any parent on the list that has come to me for treatments. That is not using a hood. That is presurizing the entire sechrist 2500b. Now using a hood. OH come on now lets see how many more treatments could you get. Im sure they will be using a hood for the paitents so you can imagine their O2 cost will be low. If anyone cares to see how much it actually cost for a tank let me know. The only thing left to come is for Tom Fox to admit his Involvment in the Chamber alteration. Guest guest
If you want to talk about pricing.... Mercy San Hospital, here in Sacramento charges $450 per 1/2 hour. When had hip surgery in San Francisco, I set it up for her to have HBOT at Saint Francis Hosp a mile away, and they were going to charge us $1,500 for 1/5 hour session. Those are Northern California rates. But, I think this says more about our failed national hospital - insurance - pricing system than about the clinics. Guest guest
The chances of siezures at 2.0 ATA is approximately 1/100,000.? I have been treating patients for over 25 years and have only sen 10 true oxygen toxicity siezures, the?rest were related to hypoglycemia, epilepsy or sudden spike in temperature.? Its funny in the past when I mentioned the possibilty of siezures in the chamber was told by all the non-clinicians on this board was incorrect, but the minute a mHBOT acolyte startes pointing a finger a clinical hyperbarics, no one says a word. ? Guest guest
RE: Justification of HBOT costs in Hospitals: UHMS charges $20,000 for certifications...... only hospitals can pay ridiculous amounts for nothing. This is why Hospitals charge $7.50 for an aspirin; and why UHMS hates freestanding clinics. Second, hospitals are required to discount services to Insurance companies, as well as Medicare. So, they increase their " prices " so that the discounts are actually above real costs. Thus, Blue Cross gets a 60% discount on prices, and that actually represents the market rate for hospital care. Thus, the pricing scheme for cash payors is then thrown completely out of whack. This is highly inefficient in all theories of pricing (cost accounting is very complex, thus pricing is very complex). The reason this is so ineffective is a normal person walking off the street, paying cash for services is actually the least expensive person for the hospital to care for. They have no need for extensive billing departments; no need to wait for 60 day payments; no extensive collections and billing billing costs; etc. They simply charge for services and get paid. This is one of the reasons our heavily over regulated medical system is so out of whack. It simply does not reflect any economic theory that supports effectiveness. Guest guest
I wont argue with you on this. Sudies have been done showing 2.0 is to much and causes sezuires for brain injury and stroke. I think to be exact Harch testified to that. Just my two cents. I don't knw I'm not a Doctor but from what I seen being around this for a while I know 2.0 for some people was to much they did develop sezuires. Your the RN Im sure you know what you doing so continue on. I'm not a Doctor thank God for that. That means I have enough since to take care of myself and not die from not getting HBOT when I need it. I'm not a Doctor so I wont prescribe my self ton's of medication to make me antibiotic resistant. I'm not a Doctor so Im not responsible for creating all these antibiotic restitant infections from over prescribing antibiotics. Yes your correct Im not a Dr. Thank God. I'm so glad you made me aware of that. I have never claimed to be or teid to practice medicine. It's not m fortay. I'm just a dad that lost a child because a Dr. Would not allow her to get HBOT when it could have saved her life. So yes my freind make sure you make it known. I Have no experience never claimed to have ever had any. The only experience I have is I know my child got better from HBOT would have lived if they would have gave it to her right off when she first enetered the ER. Guest guest
You forgot to mention the costs the hospitals absorb when the patients do not pay their bills, or the costs of having on call staff for emergencies that free standing units do not cover, or the equipment required to have by JCHAO that free standings are not required to have, etc.? Last year our hospital had over $36 million in write off because patients didn't have any insurance or skipped out on their bills.? We are a level 1 trauma center and cannot turn anyone away so are sent all the patients without money, especially from the local free standing unit (which in addition to checking out their credit balance before treating will not treat anyobne that requires monitoring due to condition). ?
