If there is a reliable method for home crafters to make a lotion free of microbes without using a synthetic preservative, then I suggest you patent your method. I must confess I am being a bit facetious, because it simply does not exist unless you are the first to discover it. Even large companies, such as Aubrey Organics---with all their chemists, labs and expertise---can't successfully make these products without preservatives. They have received warning letters from the FDA regarding their ingredient listing and have also had products recalled---so I don't think I would use them as a shining example to follow. I don't like to say negative things about others, but cannot stand by and see folks make mistakes that could be costly to themselves and others. I am curious about the testing that you have had conducted on your lotions----it does sound interesting. You don't mention a shelf-life of your products either. I agree with but for one point. Lotion can certainly and probably does harbor some bacteria/spores. A completely sterile product is practically impossible to achieve, so most all lotion would likely have some microbes present. The idea is to inhibit the growth. It is true that something like a cream that is dipped into will be contaminated much easier than a lotion that is not touched. If I were you, I would be very concerned about the safety of my customers, as well as, product liability issues for myself. I would certainly be more concerned about some pathogenic organism being in my lotion than a synthetic preservative that has been tested over and over again. This is only about the 100th time I have written on this subject and quite honestly, don't know why I bother anymore, because people will always believe what they want to, regardless. But, I do encourage you to please continue to do your research, but look beyond Aubrey Organics to some unbiased studies to see what you find. Good luck. Guest guest
If it was unused I can see why it would come back neg. for bacteria. Try next time using it for a week then send it in to be tested. I think you will find that the results will be very different. It is in use that the contamination occurs. While I am all for giving my customers the best products for their skin I also want the safest too. To date I have not come across anything that will be a good substitute for the chemical preservatives that we are now using. Even with these you need to get the right one depending on how much oil and water are in what you are making. I appreciate your response but hope you will go the extra mile in making sure that what you sell is safe. Chris Before starting to make lotions I did a huge amount of research and spoke with the chemists at Aubrey Organics and Terressentials. Both of these companys have completely natural products. My ingredients and production line is based on the methods and raw materials that these companies have put into place. Guest guest
This is very interesting as I was lead to believe that there were not natural products that could be used as a preservative. I will check out the sites and pass them on to a friend that is looking into this as well. Thanks and do let us know what your testing tells you as this is most important. Thank you for the sites. Guest guest
Sick and Hurtin: There is information put out by the Environmental Working Group on the effects of formaldehyde in school trailers on children. There are several lawsuits involving school districts in which teachers and children have gotten sick from the formaldehyde exposure. I am so sorry about your illness. Perhaps, you can find an attorney by cross-referencing some of those cases.

It is sold at a health food store not far from my home so I am really thinking about getting some as my husband had prostate cancer and of more urgency my sister is failing by the day from chemo for recurrent breast cancer. She hasn't used anything I have given her before but think it's still worth yet another try. I sent her this information that I have found about it.... Graviola comes from the deep rainforest jungles along the Amazon. Its various parts, including the leaves, roots, fruit, fruit seeds, and bark, have been used for centuries by medicine men and women and natives of South America to treat asthma, liver problems, arthritis and heart disease. Listed in an internal memo at the National Cancer Institute in 1976, the Graviola tree and its healing powers would be unknown to the American public until the year 2000, after millions of lives had already been lost to cancer and to cancers greatest helper, chemotherapy. .. .. >>> These past few days there has been an active discussion on Graviola and methods of it's production on the Orthomolecular group. Guest guest
Hi , Hope you've been doing well too. As far as the proper way to use the new products I'll let Rashelle answer that question. : ) But it is wonderful and I use it on an alternative day when I don't use the other products. Take care. Guest guest
Dee and all We used to distract Charlie when he was a kid with a loud sharp sound or an unexpected pinch on his arm to stop seizure activity. We kept pot lids and wooden spoons all over the house for this use. THe unexpected sound or discomfort can distract the brain enough. Now, we use a few drops of Lobelia inflata extract under his tongue and a few more rubbed on the back of his neck to stop seizures and if that does not work, we continue on to administer DIazepam rectally and Ativan sublingually. Hope this helps Charlie's Mom In a message dated 1/18/2005 4:03:20 AM Eastern Standard Time, writes: Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2005 05:54:08 -0800 (PST) From: " Delores F.
