Guest guest
See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FA9CpV_W9Lg & fmt=22 Harch treats Iraq vet Casey Owens-CBSnews Here Dr. Harch, MD (HBOT.com) treats Iraq veteran Casey Owens. Owens lost both legs and the beginning of the story recounts Casey's attempts to heal one of his legs. What was probably part of this original story is the ironic fact that the VA could have used HBOT to heal his leg as well as his brain, albeit by utilizing different protocols. Chronic wound healing requires pressures above 2 ATA while brain-injury repair is usually below 2 ATA, usually 1.5 ATA. This video was first broadcast on the CBS Evening News with Couric on August 3, 2009. I''ve been trying to figure out how to capture this video for awhile. It's been online at http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/08/03/eveningnews/main5209366.shtml# but CBS puts some sort of block on their site to prevent their videos from being captured. I wound up using a screen capture program that recorded the video as it was played on http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/08/03/eveningnews/main5209366.shtml# so there's unfortunately a very slight loss in quality. Then, once it loaded, I discovered that CBS news has actually already published the same video on YouTube--but I could never find it. The CBS news address of this video on YouTube is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VfMRCfOk5A & fmt=22 Eventually I'll replace my version with the CBS/YouTube version. Guest guest
, Thanks for sharing this video. We did 40 HBOT treatments for my son and saw improvements that was paid for by a private source. I want to do more but insurance will not pay even though my son has an open wound on his head. I was told they would have to try skin grafting, etc before insurance will pay. This is frustrating to me. Guest guest
Hello, there can skin graft and use HBOT to heal the skin graft, I have studies on my site www.hbot4u.com otherwise the wound must granulate all the way from the bottom up.. so Skin grafting is a very good way to speed up the healing, right afterwards they can use HBOT to heal both site and the graft site. Allowing a full thickness graft to " take well " during this he will pass through the brain depth and hopefully allow healing for both.. I would love to help your son heal, please call me if needed. May I send you more studies? Utilize HBOT in all areas please... May I send you more stuides? Sincerely CHT www.hbot4u.com [ ] Re: YouTube video of CBS News story. > , Thanks for sharing this video. Guest guest
Dear Cyndi, In our own case, about 18 months ago, Georgia Medicaid finally agreed to cover future HBOT for our son Jimmy--as long as he received HBOT at a facility accredited by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS.org). I knew this conditional requirement by the state was going to turn into just one more dead end, as did our attorney--who asked if I could document the institutional dishonesty of the UHMS. He then asked me to compile this data, which I've done. I spent anywhere from 4 to 6 to sometimes 10 hours a day putting everything down on paper. Well almost everything. In the end, it was 151 pages long and included 89 references--including videos of two lectures. This turned into a massive undertaking, but I've decided this document has value beyond just our immediate family. I'm now in the midst of re-editing and re-writing this, and I want to make it available to all. I'm envisioning a three-part compilation that people can download and send in to their insurance companies to document how the institutional ban on off-label HBOT for brain-injury came to be and how the UHMS is primarily responsible. Unfortunately, I won't be able to give this away. I haven't been this financially strapped since I was 18 years old and going off to college, and now my own 18-year old will start college in the fall, and I have no way to help her financially because I've invested so much time into this . In the next few weeks I hope to set up a web page or an Amazon page or something so that people like you can download this. One component will be the document; the second will be the 89 references; and the third component will be disk images of the two video-taped lectures. One lecture is 2 hours and the second is 2 1/2 hours. I'm anticipating the references and lectures can be downloaded and burned to DVDs. Should you and several hundred other people decide to download this material and submit it to your insurance company, I hope it initiates a rejection of the UHMS as a legitimate authority on HBOT and a recognition of the legitimacy of HBOT as an effective intervention for repairing brain-injury. I can't promise anything like that, obviously, but you never know. More later. Freels [ ] Re: YouTube video of CBS News story. > >, Thanks for sharing this video. Guest guest
, I believe in HBOT. We did 40 HBOT treatments and healed my son from a severe case of cellulitis that cause two open wounds on his head. I spent four weeks living in another city doing the HBOT treatments and his head totally healed. About a month after we left and my son was back to school he got cellulitis again and opened the one wound on his head back up. My son is self injurious and so I bought him a helmet. Then he started hitting his face. Next he opened a wound on his face. It is a vicious cycle. The Dr. here said before insurance will pay for hbot you have steps like grafting and some other things and then the insurance will pay. I am very frustrated because grafting is not to get the HBOT it is a step you have to do first and then if it does not work then eventually HBOT will be paid for by insurance. I think when you have a child like my son there should not be steps that you have to go through first. Any ideas you have cannot only help.
