Guest guest
Hi Everyone: Please don't think that all neck problems are associated with thyroid problems. That is the furthest thing from the truth. The point I want to make is that those of us with larger goiters (golf ball size and up) have many symptoms that can point to the thyroid gland as the culprit. For instance, my whole right lobe to the middle is consumed with a goiter. When I stand or sit and lean over, the goiter constricts on my esophagus and windpipe causing me to feel like I am going to black out. It is hard to catch my breath as well. After I eat, approximately one to two hours, I become intensly ill. My goiter swells up as if it were angry that I ate or something. My feet turn purple, I shiver very bad, my stomach becomes intensly nauseous to the point that I have to lay down to work it off. I also sweat very bad and my heart will race or it will flip flop and contract like premature atrial or ventricle contractions. My neck, too, bothers me greatly. Many of you have thyroid imbalances hyper/hypo, but do not have to contend with a goiter. A goiter can cut off breathing, the carotid artery in the neck which in turn suppresses blood flow through the system and it can lay on the vagus nerve in the neck which travels into the stomach and other areas. I have read on the hyperthyroidism board where those with hyper t and hypo t with goiters and a couple without have experienced neck problems. I did not mean to imply that all thyroid or non thyroid problems are directly correlated with neck problems. Had I said that, which it sounds like I did, I am sorry. Thanks, lisawick@... ------------------------------------------------------------------------
