Guest guest
Wow..thanks so much for this information. I had a similar experience, did weekly acupuncture and herbs for a year, was diagnosed subclinical (low TSH, but no symptoms) and then went into complete remission , however, after a year and a stressful event in my life have since relapsed. But I no longer have fear and anxiety about being HyperT. I know it is considered " chronic " and although I am committed to being " cured " , I don;'t have the serious symptoms anymore. In fact my symptoms are very mild, compared to most. I'm on a low dosage of Tapazol and plan to get off it soon and go on 's regime. But I prefer to use it as a proactive regime than take the risk of thyroid storm. Like many others I am grateful that there are people like who are investigating healthy ways of resolving this issue. But I am learning many things including Patience..so in some ways this HyperT condition has been a gift. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Dear Group, As I wrote on this board months ago, I also went to a Chinese acupuncturist after being diagnosed w/Graves disease (among other things I did), was better in a few months, and have been fine for almost 2 years. Guest guest
, Please do me a favor and ask " success w/chin. med " (I think it's aunt?) how soon had she been diagnosed with GD that she went for chin. med. Also, how long had she had her symtoms prior to diagnosis? My daughter went undiagnosed for I would say about 6 months or longer. Now she's been on tap. for almost 1 year......I don't know if its too late for chin. med. She's down to 5 mg. of tap and if her blood test comes back this month okay - the dr. is taking her off to see if she goes into remission. Her only problem to date is slight bulging eyes. Thanks for all your help. It's been wonderful to read all the responses from people. Guest guest
, Is there any way you can ask the group if their is an acc./chin. med. dr. in Northern NJ. I have found a couple that I may consider for my ddaughter - but if someone has used one in this area that really helped them - it would help narrow down my choices. Thanks, Elaine ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Dear Elaine, I went to the Chinese acupuncturist a few months after the diagnosis, but I also took Tapezol and beta blockers. When my thyroid hormone levels started to decrease, I went off the Tapezol VERY GRADUALLY. It is certainly not too late for your daughter to begin w/Chinese medicine; I believe the thyroid can be corrected at any time. The eye involvement is a different story though--I didn't have that, and don't know how to treat it. probably knows about this, and, if you see a Chinese acupuncturist/herbalist, they should be able to tell you what they are or are not able to treat. Good luck, AntJoan ------------------------------------------------------------------------
